Remember my outfit post last week when I said I wasn’t fancy? Well this is me taking that same top and trying to get fancy. Fancy, but not. I think that is my M.O. for life. hahah. Last Friday we had a Good Friday service at church and I decided we would take the opportunity to dress up just a bit. Loved mixing a sweatshirt with my most favorite vintage skirt. I felt so comfy, it was awesome. We were very appreciative of Mon Petit for sending the girls some pieces from their new Spring/Summer collection. Aren’t they adorable?

Even though I wasn’t on twitter for most of Lent (I popped on at night to reply to messages), it’s funny (or sad?) how your mind is programed to write tweets subconsciously when things happen. I ended up starting a note in my phone when I found myself thinking out a tweet. Only me? Anyway, here is my past month in “tweet” form…

1. Grating anything has to be the one of the scariest experiences ever. #iknowiamgoingtogratemyfinger

2. Omgosh. It’s 6:15pm and it’s still light out. Hallelujah.

3. Finley just ate a rock.

4. R: Finley has a big belly. Is she growing a baby in there?

5. Sometimes I think “is there a better song than Us by Regina Spektor?”

6. I just ate my weight in blackberries

7. Remember the movie Powder?

8. The dance cam is the best part of any sporting event. Rowan just made it on to the one at the hockey game and I’m crying I was laughing so hard.

9. Just wasted way too much time looking at Hawaiian real estate.

10. “love loud, don’t lose out” oh Mates of State you are singing to my soul.

11. Rowan has been in the bathroom for about 15 mins singing Frozen to herself.

12. I just realized the peeler I thought was “broken” and didn’t work good is actually a julienne peeler #doh

13. I found a new band I liked. But then I realized they are probably barely 20. Not sure how I feel about that.

14. Kev just caught Rowan with scissors trying to cut her hair #soitbegins

15. Some nights I look at Finley and think “you’re already wearing a tshirt and leggings how are these any different than pjs?”. Then I don’t change her and put her to bed. #imtiredandlazy

16. I love long texting conversations with @littlehipsqueaks

17. Finley has mastered the art of the side eyes. Ooooh she is sassy. (side eyes emoji)

18. Date night! Driving around in our swagger wagon listening to Hot Water Music. #hardcorekidsturnedparents

Hahahahahahahhahahhh why do these makes me laugh so much? It’s so lame that I wrote them all down throughout the month, but at the same time sort of hilarious? I don’t know. Twitter is a weird, strange 140 count world.

Easter & Some Random Thoughts

Easter. What a fabulous day. The weather was perfect, my family was here, church was amazing and I just felt thankful for so much. Easter is one of my most favorite holidays. We of course had to take some Easter family photos after church and oh gosh! I think I need help- I have crossed that line of LOVING (obsessed with) dressing the girls in matching outfits. They will hate me later but as for now they get a kick out of it and I will ride that train until it’s over. I mean come on? How can I not? They are so stinkin’ cute in their dresses.

Thank you all for the sweet and encouraging comments, emails and tweets about fostering. Totally overwhelmed us in the best possible way. You guys are so awesome. Thank you, thank you! I will definitely be sharing more in the next week about our journey thus far.

This is random but you know what I am listing to right now? The soundtrack to Sister Act 2. So good. It’s been my favorite for many, many years. It’s right up there with the Newsies soundtrack.

I ate a lot of sugar yesterday because 1. Lent was over and 2. It was Easter (duh!) and I am paying for it now. Ugh. So sick to my stomach. Guess that’s what happens when you haven’t had sugar in 40 days. Tomorrow the sugar will be put away and we will be back to clean eating. I have some overall thoughts to share on my first Lent experience this week as well as how I see clean eating fitting into our day to day life. I can’t believe how much this cleanse changed us.

Finley’s had major trouble with teething this past week. Goodness gracious. That poor child has cried for 3 days straight. Today she actually smiled and it was so awesome. I’ve felt so terrible for her and my nerves are shot. We are glad to have you back little Fin!

Ok. With that I am off to take a shower (yep, at 4:34pm). Finley just went down for a nap and Rowan is zoned out watching My little Pony after a full day playing outside. Hello 20 mins to myself.
Hope you had a great Monday!

An impromptu Family Picture

If you follow me on instagram you probably saw all my pictures of the craft class I taught last weekend. My sweet friend Amy opened up one of the coolest shops I have ever seen about a year ago. It’s full of antique vendors, vintage clothes and handmade goods. I seriously could spend hours in there wondering around. Anyway, they have this really cool space to have classes. I taught a felt flower holiday wreath class. It was packed with around 30 ladies. I also had a little pop up shop that day to showcase some of my necklaces. I won’t lie. It was a pretty awesome day!! It was a whole lot of what I love rolled up into one day! Art, teaching, friends, shopping- what’s not to love!

The shop is in a super cool old building and since we were all there together, we decided last minute to try to take a family photo. We are at an age at the moment that if Rowan isn’t in the mood for pictures there is no way you are getting a picture. There was a lot of squirming and wiggling around so they aren’t the best family photos, but it’s a photo of all of us nonetheless. Something that doesn’t happen all that often. I’ll take whatever we can get. Thanks Adam!

Let’s chat about a few random things shall we?

1. The Roots sweatshirts I got for the girls in Canada are rocking my world right now. So nostalgic!
2. I am majorly addicted to making Finley baby food at the moment.
3. I got some Bolt House Farms Peppermint Mocha today at the store and let me just say YES!
4. Mommy and Rowans date nights are awesome
5. When people can’t turn and blow their cigarette smoke in a different direction as I pass with the girls. It makes me all stabby and ragey on the inside. Yes those are real words.
6. Rowan has reverted to calling me “mama”? Not sure why but I think I like it.
7. Why are gingersnaps so good?
8. What is a rainbow loom and why are there giant displays everywhere I go?
9. Jackets, cold weather, kids and car seats make me crazy. On and off, on and off. I get why they aren’t safe in the car seat but ahh it’s so annoying when you are doing errands.
10. Shopping carts that won’t turn right. Blah.
11. 9 months is like pure magic as far as baby ages are concerned. Swoon.
12. We finally turned our heat on.
13. How do you convince your 3 year old to be anything other than a princess for halloween?
14. Kev is awesome.
15. We are hoping to plan a vacation in December but can’t decide where to go? Ideas?
16. I feel like the socks to clothes ratio in any given load of laundry is 70-30. Why are there so many socks? I think baby socks need that string attached to them like kids mittens.
17. Finley is obsessed with animals. It cracks us up.
18. I am the worst school parent. I forget something Rowan needs to bring in like once a week.
19. My 2 favorite fashion blogs will always be Kendi Everyday and What I Wore. My home girls.
20. How does one decide when they are done having kids? It seems like a question I can’t really find an answer for.

Rowan loves the remote for the camera. She will sit in front of the camera for a good 20 mins taking pictures of herself. She was in charge of all these…

What Rowan Wore | 10.02.13

School has been going so great for this little one. I didn’t think I was going to love it as much as I am either. I was excited for her, but it’s scary dropping them off for the first time ever and leaving for 2.5 hours. You know what though? I am really trying to enjoy the time I get with just Finley and the small amount of time that I get (gasp!) by myself. School lands right during nap time. I come home, feed Finley and put her to bed. I haven’t had down time during the day since Rowan gave up naps a long, long time ago. It’s a little luxury that I know won’t last forever, so I am totally enjoying it. I actually got to eat a hot meal today for lunch and I ate it slowly. Boom!

I wanted to call Rowan “Rizzo” in this outfit.

This is such a Rowan face…http://www.flickr.com/photos/jenloveskev/10041740654/

What Rowan Wore

Rowan’s first day of school ended up being on her 3rd birthday. At first I thought “oh that kinda stinks” but then I realized Rowan would be over the moon excited about it. It was a bitter sweet moment for me. I will admit I shed a few tears in the car driving away. How is she this old? Though, I feel like I teared up because I am just so proud of the little girl that she is. It’s a good feeling huh? To not only love your kid because well, they are your kid but to love them for the person they are as well. She is kind, sweet, and oh so brave. She has the silliest sense of humor. She cracks me up with her dancing every time she hears music and the ridiculous words she makes up that she thinks are way too funny. I love that when I close my eyes I can picture her round little face, with her big eyes and I can hear her infectious laugh. The real deep hearty laugh she does when she thinks something is especially funny. She’s a special one, that’s for sure!

So here’s to you my sweet Rowan Winter. I am so excited for what you are going to learn this year!
and now a ridiculous amount of pictures…

Umm Rowan starts Preschool next week. Can we all just take a second to process that. What?!?!? Crazy town. I am not ready for this summer to be over. Also, I turn 31 next Wednesday. 31?!?! I liked turning 30, but 31?? I am not so sure about. Eeeeek! Well, so far this post has nothing to do with these outfits. Nothing special to say other than we got dressed today and this is what we wore. We went to Hobby Lobby and waited in line for the new Habitat Restore to open. We got a sweet Kilim rug for $20. I love that place.

That concludes the most boring post ever.
