What Rowan (and Jen) Wore…

msweek376 copy

Welp, we are getting there. The count down it on! It’s weird to feel like a human ticking time bomb. Back when I was teaching, I would always have bad dreams the last few weeks of summer. I would dream about missing my alarm and being late on the first day, not being prepared, etc… Well, those dreams have started again. Not about school though, about birth. I woke up like 5 times last night stressing about things that I didn’t have ready yet. Do we have enough towels? Do we have a blanket to use right as they put her on my chest? What do I want to wear during labor at home? (Have I mentioned we are having a home birth?) I know if she came right at this moment none of those things would really matter and wouldn’t make or break anything, but it gets the best of me while I sleep I guess.

I am ready to be done. I’ve mentioned it before but I am not someone who loves pregnancy. I used to carry a lot of guilt around because of that but I’ve accepted it. I wish I was someone who made statements like “i’ve never felt sexier” but grunting when I put on my socks or the constant pressure I feel on my crotch is not what I define as sexy. I know Kev and I are blessed to be able to get pregnant. It is something I don’t take lightly, but I am still entitled to having feelings about it. It really is a miracle (and super science fictiony) that you grow a human inside of you, but I struggle with the journey. I would really just love to hold our baby girl and put this all behind us. I am so excited to meet her, to love her and for her to be a part of our family.

I pretty much wear some sort of combination of this outfit everyday. Jeans, a tank top, an open flannel or denim shirt, shoes and accessories. I was never pregnant in the winter with Rowan, so this is a whole new ball game for me. It is difficult!

Happy Monday! Isn’t this week so exciting? I love this week. It’s like the official start of Christmas. We are getting our Christmas tree on Friday and I can’t wait!! Anyway, for this post I teamed up with IFB and Lookmatic to celebrate how different everyone can see the world. We are all so unique and I love hearing people’s perspective on how they personally see the world.

I like to see the world full of endless possibilities. I love trying to keep a positive point of view and I really, truly believe that you can accomplish anything if you work hard and go after your dreams. It’s really important to me to foster that kind of attitude in my children as well. I want them to grow up thinking they can accomplish whatever they put their minds to. I want them to see the world as a place where they can dream big.

Ha! Did you catch that? I wrote “children”? Crazy, huh? It still blows my mind that we will have more than 1 kid soon.

I wasn’t sure how I would feel about wearing a sort of babydoll/tent dress while pregnant but… IT IS AWESOME!! Especially when it’s super soft and a beautifully made Dear Creatures dress. So dang comfortable!! When you’ve been deathly sick all week a pretty dress can make you feel a whole heck of a lot better. This week has been pretty terrible for us. We have all be sick. Rowan has been waking up like every hour through the night crying for the last week. It’s been like the worst combo ever… Pregnancy + sick kid (like 104 fever sick) + sick self and husband + teething + no sleep + no family around= the longest week ever. I can’t wait to make the trip home to Massachusetts this week for some r&r and some family time with our parents. I don’t know how you Momma’s with more than 1 kid do it. I am excited for this new little one to get here but the excitement doesn’t come without some nerves as well. This whole week I just kept thinking how would we be doing this if there was another baby around? I know you just adjust and it becomes second nature but sitting around waiting for the unknown makes me a little nervous.

p.s. this dress has pockets! AMAZING!

The wind was intense out there today! I decided to take pictures inside instead. Works well when you have a large white wall and lots of natural light in your house. Bonus! Hello, winter photo spot. Anyway, we are well on our way here in the 3rd trimester. My outfits have been becoming quite simple. Comfort is high on the importance list when getting dressed. Lots of jeans and lots of Minnetonkas. Love this super cute and comfortable tunic from Modcloth.

I can’t believe there are only 9 weeks left. Rowan has started to understand that she has a sister coming. She likes to rub my belly, say hi to the baby and tell people it’s her baby sister. She even got to feel the baby for the first time today. It was pretty darn cute watching her feel the baby kick her hand. She is going to be the sweetest big sister.

Happy Thanksgiving (well, to Canada)!! and Hello! to the 3rd trimester. I have absolutely nothing ready for this baby, but I am so ready to be done being pregnant. I am not someone who loves pregnancy, I truthfully really dislike most of it. That is another post for another time though. Today lets talk about maternity tights and how amazing they are! So comfortable. Let’s also talk about being pumped to find more non maternity clothing items that work!!

This dress from ModCloth is so dang cute. Dresses work great when they have an elastic and higher than normal waistline. An empire waist works the best and sometimes even something a little lower will work as well. This dress is perfect because it has both those things and it has the longer length so your bump isn’t making it too short in the front.

I think by now we all know just how awesome Lulu’s is! I have loved their selections of clothing for quite sometime now. Did you know however, that they have a sister (well brother) site that sells just guys stuff? It is called Trucker and they have some really great guys clothing. They carry a ton of skate brand clothing which Kev really likes to wear. Make sure you check it out for the special guy in your life.

You never know what a family photo shoot might end up looking like a 2 year old involved. Rowan insisted that we had the umbrella (which she calls her bubble) and baby cheetah there. I forget how much I enjoy having pictures of all of us together. It’s usually just Rowan or Rowan and one of us, but it’s so nice to have pictures of all of us together. Hello 27 weeks!

Get ready for an abundance of pictures (if you’re not my mom feel free to scroll fast)…

I love these in between fall days. Cool enough to wear some cozy clothes but warm enough to still have bare legs. My favorite kind of day. I’ve been really trying to treasure this time with Rowan lately. Life is busy but I am trying not to lose sight that these are our last few months with Rowan as our only baby. She has turned into a chatter box over night. She can basically say everything now a days. Always talking.

I can’t believe that after my midwife appointment next week we start going in every 2 weeks already. How did we get here so fast? The third trimester is right around the corner. Flowy skirts like this pretty tangerine one are super comfortable to wear now a days. Not much is fitting anymore. Felt really great wearing this outfit all day today though. Love the layers against the light and airy skirt.
