Baby, Baby, Baby…

IMG_1819

Well, we’ve been keeping a secret for a little while… for about 19 weeks to be exact. I am pregnant again with baby number three!! We are over the moon and all very excited. Baby boy or girl will be arriving (or should be arriving β€” we all know how that goes) very early in October. Yippie!! I love fall babies. I just have to make it through the hot summer waddling around with swollen ankles. I think this time around we may not find out the gender. Am I strong enough? hahahah I don’t think I have it in me to wait that long. However that’s the goal as of May 6th 4:32pm. Just warning you, it may change in the next 10 mins and then change back again and then change again. Who knows! All you ladies who have waited please tell me how exciting it is to wait so I can stay strong. The girls are very excited and being so sweet about all of it. Rowan thinks we should have a girl because we already have lots of girl clothes. Although she had our baby friend Max smiling up a storm the other day, so now she thinks it should be a boy because they seem to have a strong liking to her. She’s cute! 3rd babies really make an appearance awful fast though. Good golly! I feel like I look at least 25 weeks already and by Rowan’s friend’s comment about my “fat belly” at the park today, I would say she agrees. Omgosh I love the things kids say! So there you have it… The Richardson gang is growing to be a family of 5! Whoooohooooo!

For those who’ve been following our family for a while now and are curious, we’re still an active certified foster care family and we hold our breath in anticipation for the phone call that will bring a beautiful child into our home. God works in wonderful and mysterious ways and we’re just trusting in Him, His plan, and His timing for all of this. Thank you for always being so loving and supportive of our family everyone! xoxox

  1. So, so happy for you and your famiyl! Those pictures are precious. <3

  2. Yay!!! We waited to find out what number 3 was! It was hardest not to find out before we got the nursery put together – but there is so much great neutral stuff!!! I’m so thankful we decided to wait, it made the moment HE arrived that much more special, not that we anticipated his arrival any more than the other two, but there was an elevated sense of anticipation!! Soo happy for you! I just love checking in on your sweet family! Congratulations πŸ™‚

  3. Marguerite/Chicspace •

Congrats! (Now I’m scrolling through older posts and you did an amazing job hiding this πŸ™‚ )

  4. Alyssa •

Aw very cool! I have two girls too and often think about what having a third will be like. Your girls will be such great big sisters! Congrats! I look forward to seeing your journey!

i am a long time reader, but rarely comment, but this deserves one! Congratulations on your addition! I’ve loved your parenting posts and reading what you go through because I have two girls, two years apart (3.5 and 1.5 now). We are also expecting our third in July. Babies are the best! Thanks for keeping up a great blog despite how busy I know you are!

  6. Becky •

Eeeeeek! Congratulations Jen, Kev, Rowan and Finley.
    Love, Becky

  7. Congratulations! This post makes me so happy! We just had our second baby girl and your pictures of two girls and a baby bump make me excited for the future! Happy Day!

  8. Sarah •

weeeee! I’m 18 weeks with baby number 1! Can’t wait to follow along with you! Congrats!

  9. Danielle Blake •

    Congratulations! That is so wonderful!

I did not find out with my first and I loved not knowing! I love hearing everyone’s guesses and it’s actually quite funny hearing the incredulity when people find out you don’t know.

I’m currently pregnant with twins and am not finding out either. I let my husband find out this time and within an hour of finding out the news he said I shouldn’t find out, he was regretting not waiting.

So, my advice: stay strong! It’s so wonderful to find out when they appear in the world for the first time.

  10. Hey Jen! Congrats on number 3 πŸ™‚ I am due end of October with number 4 and we have kept them all a surprise. It was and is hard but sooooo worth it! After I give that final push I sit there in a frozen/ anticipated state waiting for my husband to shout it out! There are so many surprises in life, good and bad, and no matter what- the gender is always a GOOD surprise πŸ™‚ I hope you can make it without knowing. Besides, all newborns wear the same things so you won’t have to worry about shopping right away. I’m new to your blog and love it! God bless ❀️

  11. Jen, oh my gosh, I’m jumping up & down for you, this is SO exciting!! You guys are such an awesome and inspiring bunch! Also, I’ve noticed you’ve been looking extra glowy lately! πŸ˜‰

Congrats! We just had our third (a little boy to follow two girls) and it is wonderful -chaotic, but the very best kind. we found out the gender with our first and everyone kept asking, “didn’t you want to be surprised?” and so i withheld finding out with my second. after birth, when i first held my baby, gender was the furthest thing from my mind and it was over 30 min. before i withdrew my grasp on her curled up little body and the nurses officially checked. she was a girl. i thought she would be a boy, but i could have cared less. gender was a non-issue, a non-surprise. afterall, you only have two options and both are great. the surprise is whether or not your baby has hair, your eyes, your partners dimple. the surprise is in how much you can love something so immediate. gender doesn’t matter -so go for it, or not. you’re going to get exactly what you want anyway:)
look forward to following your journey.

  13. Tyan •

Congrats! We didn’t find out with either of our kiddos (two girls) – and it was honestly the best thing ever. I loved it. Just having them laid beside me and hearing “It’s a girl!” were two of the sweetest moments of my life. I was on the fence about it the first time, and after how awesome that moment was, there was no way I was going to find out early the second time.

  14. Rhonda •

Waiting is super fun! We have 5 children and waited to find out for 2 and found out with 3…both were fun, just at different times πŸ™‚

  15. kara brown •

love these picts! you look great!! also, we have the gender in an envelope and i have to say that i think the anticipation is really the exciting part of not knowing. i know for me, once Abry came out, i really wasn’t in the space to be caring a whole bunch about what gender she was. we’re going to try to hold out again though!

  16. Logan •

Wee!!! So excited! We’re expecting #3 too and I’m 18.5 weeks. Excited to follow along! I wanted to wait until the end to find out gender, but husband was opposed. So it made it hard to stay strong. He found out before and then surprised me. It was still really fun. And it’s nice to know. I can plan since we got rid of a lot of baby things πŸ™‚ A huge congrats to you and your family!

  17. Kendall •

Beautiful! Congrats to all of you!

  18. Lindsey •

I have three babies (a 4 y/o girl, 2 y/o girl and a 5 month old son). We waited to find out my sons gender till he was born and it was the best surprise of my life. It was hell waiting but finding out the minute he was born was the most exciting moment for my husband and I. We both agree that we wish we would have waited to find out with the other two. Lots of joyful tears. And it was so fun announcing it to our family.

  19. congratulations! What a beautiful blessing x

  20. Sara •

Wow! Congrats! Your girls are so beautiful, I’m sure #3 will be just as special and amazing.

  21. SO EXCITING! Congrats! =) Love following along with your family. I will be praying for you guys and the little one. God is an awesome God and he is so mysterious in his ways, but His timing is so wonderful. =)

  22. Love the pictures and so excited for you! Congratulations

    Happy Medley

  23. Yay! Congrats Jen! That’s amazing news! Super excited for you and your family! Don’t know if I could be so patient about the gender, but my mom says it’s the best surprise there is!:)

  24. Hey Jen!

This is my first comment ever! Ha! Congratulations though! You are so adorable and so stunning:) You inspire me so much! blessings!

  25. Congratulations to you and your partner, what exciting news !

  26. First, congrats!! Second, you’re looking fantastic! My husband and I are currently expecting our first and we’re waiting to find out the sex. As we get closer, I’m getting more and more anxious to know, but I’m loving the wait, and I am not a patient person. It’s giving me something to look forward to, and for someone who was sick well into week 20 and overall has not felt blissful during pregnancy, that carrot dangling in front of me is extra encouragement. Also, I love the guessing game and hearing everyone’s theory on why they think it’s a boy or a girl. Some of the reasons are actually quite hilarious, especially when one person says it’s a boy because of this and another person gives the same reason as to why they think it’s a girl. Regardless of what you decide, happy and healthy is always the goal!

  27. Rachel •

    Yay, congratulations!!

  28. MΓ³nica •

Me alegro un montón. Vaya familia vais a montar‘‘‘‘‘. Espero que sea un niño. Besos y feliz jueves.

  29. Jenny H. •

    Congratulations! How very exciting πŸ™‚

  30. Kayla •

    So exciting! Congratulations Richardson Family!

  31. Jenni Smith •

WOW!! Congratulations!! How wonderful!! I waited until 20 weeks to tell fb friends about Cassidy!! As you know I waited o find out with the first three. There is something so special about waiting. That moment in the room when your husband gets to tell you the gender is something so tender and special, I sometimes wish I had waited to find out with Cassidy!! And I had my showers a few weeks after the baby arrived so the present could be gender specific!! Love you!!

  32. christine •

    Congratulations! What wonderful news!

  33. Cecilia •

Ah, I knew it! You had that beautiful glow. CONGRATS! I just found out the gender, I wish I could contain the curiosity. Anyway, it was a total surprise because I was convinced I was having another girl…it’s a fall boy!

  34. Oh you are absolutely beautiful! So glad you shared…I thought it just wouldn’t be right to not let everyone in on the fun! πŸ™‚ (plus, how long could you hide that belly? haha…) So excited for you and the gender will be perfect no matter what! XOXO
    Aloha-

  35. Jenni •

Congratulations! I’m 12 weeks along with my first (husbands 3rd) and we are both super excited. I had my first scan yesterday. πŸ™‚ Such an exciting time!
    xoxoxo

  36. Odette •

    Congratulations!

I’m someone who didn’t find out the sex of her baby until D-Day. It was tough. I’m the kind of girl that opens the mail before she even gets in the door because I can’t stand waiting to see what’s inside — even if it’s a bill. But you know what kept me going? The realization that there are very few true surprises in this life… and this is definitely one of them. And what a good one it is.

I wish you a healthy and happy pregnancy. Keep the secret. You’ll never regret it — and think of how exciting it will be to share the news with your girls when they come to meet their new sibling. God bless.

  37. Carey •

Congratulations!!!!! πŸ™‚ (Of course I had to scroll through your older Instagram photos to see if I could spot the belly – nope! Very sneaky. πŸ˜‰
Our first baby (of 2) was a surprise and it was a lot of fun – good motivation during labor! πŸ˜‰ (And all the nurses and the midwives were excited about the surprise factor too – they all commented on it!)

  38. Kristina •

    Awesome news!!! Congratulations!

  39. Bronwyn •

Oh my goodness!! Congratulations! I am so excited for you and your beautiful family! Sending prayers for a healthy baby and wonderful experience your way. πŸ™‚

  40. Carolin •

Congratulations! Long time reader, but mostly very quietly. But I want to take the chance to say how much I enjoy your blog and to follow along. Your adventures, pictures, words are often an inspiration. So thank you! We are expecting our second child in early October and we already know that we will be a boys gang in autumn – it was really no secret (even for my uneducated eyes) when we had our ultrasound some weeks ago. All the best for the coming months!

  41. Sara •

    Congratulations.
I have be quietly following your blog for a long time now, since before Rowen!
I have always loved watching your family grow, and I’m excited to see it grow even more. I’m expecting my first baby early October as well, and have chosen not to find out the sex. I can’t tell you what it’s like when you do find out, but I know deep down it will be so worth it. To me it’s one life’s biggest surprises and I for one love a good surprise!

  42. margaret •

Congratulations! I don’t think I have it in me to go through a third pregnancy! But now that my second is six months old already, I have to say I’m a tiny bit jealous! Our first was a surprise, and we found out with our second (mostly because our daughter was convinced she was having a sister, and we wanted to prepare her for a brother if that was the case, which it was), both ways are special and wonderful, so I would say if you haven’t experienced waiting to find out you definitely should!!

  43. Jane •

Of my 3, I found out beforehand with 2 of them and 1 was a surprise. By far, the best was the surprise! Ringing family and saying “it’s a…” was so special. I cried, lol! Congrats.

  44. Rachel C •

Yay! Congratulations!! We didn’t fine out the gender ahead of time with our first two babies ( both girls) but did with our third just in case it was a boy ( a third girl :)). While finding out was certainly easier for planning purposes, there was so much less anticipation. There was so much less build up to the birth, no big exciting surprise at the delivery. We will definitely wait to find out gender next time. Just have a few neutral newborn outfits available and bookmark a few favorite outfits online to order once the baby is born πŸ™‚ Wishing you all the best!

  45. Emily •

Congrats! I’m currently pregnant with baby #1 and love your blog. It’ll be exciting to see what this pregnancy brings for you! (and maybe steal some maternity outfit ideas!)

  46. So happy for you Jen. I’ve only been following your blog for a couple of months now, and I’m excited for your family. Can’t wait for you to share what’s the difference between having two versus three children. We have two and thinking about a third.
    You have a beautiful family<3

  47. So happy for you and your family Jen. I am also currently 20th week and due date in middle of September, so I am looking forward to hear more about your pregnancy πŸ™‚
    Congrats one more time πŸ™‚

  48. Congratulations!! I’m so happy for you and your family. I’ve been following your blog for a few years (since Rowan was a baby) and have loved seeing your family grow.

  49. sigrun •

baby nr 3! wow! Cogratulations! It is seem you wanna take a shot with a son;) I guess, In Poland its common beyond families with two daughters. Have you tried to play with chinese calendar of baby gender? As far as I am concerned , believe it or not, its works. This is the schedule you can find on many web pages where age of a mother adn the month of conceive are the only data you need to give to know your planned or already living baby to check if it was right. Have you tried this? I wish you will have a baby boy.;)

  50. sigrun •

p.s. I have already two and miss being pregnant and this feeling of caring of independent human being inside me.. This is what I envy every pregnant woman, Despite, I dont wanna have more children of my own,

  51. Courtney •

I waited with my second to find out gender (though not with my first) and it was worth the wait!!

  52. When I was pregnant with our third we were going to have it be a surprise. Really, we were. But we had two girls already and we live overseas and I was SO stressed out about “what if it’s a boy?!” that I was just dying to know. So we did a gender reveal thing around the 6-month mark and it was great…I was so relieved to know (it was another girl!). I think that if we already had one of each, or if we had lived in the States where we could easily get things, family could easily mail us things, etc., I would have stuck to my guns, but I have no regrets of opening that envelope! Congratulations!

  53. What a lovely surprise! So happy for all of you. I’m also very curious as how you made the decision to have number three?? I have followed your sweet little family for some time and remember hearing you say you knew Finley would be your last because pregnancy was hard on your body. I also have two kids and feel the same so I was hoping you had insight hehe.

  54. Hannah Avery •

Congratulations! How exciting! We just had our 3rd baby almost two weeks ago!
