Down in Florida

Welp. In a very last minute decision, we jumped a plane and headed south. We are spending the week in Florida at my parents. It just so happened that both my sisters were coming down to visit and I didn’t want to be the odd one out. We haven’t all been together as a family in almost 2 years. It’s been super laid back so far. Lots of boat rides, sitting by the dock, late night walks, hot tubs, dinners around the kitchen island and good ol’family fun. Being with family and by the water is just good for my soul. I just wish Kev could be here too. There is pretty much nothing I love more though than being on a boat. I mentioned this on instragram, but being on the water just seems right. It makes life seem simple, easy and beautiful. It slows things down. The wind in your hair, the warm breeze, it all holds so many childhood memories for me. I love that when we come down here, Rowan gets to be part of this too. I hope she grows up loving being on the water as much as I do.

Here are just a few pictures from our first 2 days here. (All pictures were taken by my talented sister Amy).

  1. Lovely photos! There is something about boats thats so special. That’s why I’m so lucky to live on one full time!

  2. Beautiful pictures ! I find it hard to take good pictures of family time but your sister did an awesome job!

  3. Close, but not close enough! 😉
Hope you are having a blast! Been getting the itch to pick up and head south too. We are finally getting a taste of that warmer weather here.
Enjoy your family! I know that time is so valued. x

  4. Lovely! Year-round boating is one of my favorite things about living in Florida!

  5. great photos!! looks like such an amazing time.

  6. oh what a great escape! we are itching to get away ourselves. have a lovely time!

  7. These photos are beautiful, your sister is great behind the camera. I totally agree, being on the water is the best. I grew up on the lake with the beach at the end of our street, my summers were spent in my bathing suite barefoot swimming and playing in the sun. Life is simple on the water and somehow everything else seems to melt away when you are there. Enjoy the rest of your trip.

  8. Holy cow. I don’t know if you noticed it, but from these photos Rowan resembles your sister Carrie so much. It’s almost like seeing what she’ll look like when she’s all grown up. So sweet! 🙂

  9. Beautiful! What part of Florida?

  10. so special…I feel the same way when we visit my folks in the Puget sound and go boating.
Awesome pics. Glad you got away. 🙂

  11. how great that your whole fam is there! i’m escaping to fl next week – i always have to make it a point to visit my native land in the winter… makes it easier to make it through these new england winters that make me wonder why i left fl in the first place! 🙂

  12. I feel the same way! I have never had more fun w/friends and family, than being on a boat with them. My smile is uncontrollable, and the happiness shines through. My favorite thing to do is tube or do some sort of water sport. I wish my family had a boat (we’ve always rented one), or I could get lucky enough to have a boat friend ; ) Thanks for sharing : )
