Let’s chat about a few random things shall we?

1. The Roots sweatshirts I got for the girls in Canada are rocking my world right now. So nostalgic!
2. I am majorly addicted to making Finley baby food at the moment.
3. I got some Bolt House Farms Peppermint Mocha today at the store and let me just say YES!
4. Mommy and Rowans date nights are awesome
5. When people can’t turn and blow their cigarette smoke in a different direction as I pass with the girls. It makes me all stabby and ragey on the inside. Yes those are real words.
6. Rowan has reverted to calling me “mama”? Not sure why but I think I like it.
7. Why are gingersnaps so good?
8. What is a rainbow loom and why are there giant displays everywhere I go?
9. Jackets, cold weather, kids and car seats make me crazy. On and off, on and off. I get why they aren’t safe in the car seat but ahh it’s so annoying when you are doing errands.
10. Shopping carts that won’t turn right. Blah.
11. 9 months is like pure magic as far as baby ages are concerned. Swoon.
12. We finally turned our heat on.
13. How do you convince your 3 year old to be anything other than a princess for halloween?
14. Kev is awesome.
15. We are hoping to plan a vacation in December but can’t decide where to go? Ideas?
16. I feel like the socks to clothes ratio in any given load of laundry is 70-30. Why are there so many socks? I think baby socks need that string attached to them like kids mittens.
17. Finley is obsessed with animals. It cracks us up.
18. I am the worst school parent. I forget something Rowan needs to bring in like once a week.
19. My 2 favorite fashion blogs will always be Kendi Everyday and What I Wore. My home girls.
20. How does one decide when they are done having kids? It seems like a question I can’t really find an answer for.

Rowan loves the remote for the camera. She will sit in front of the camera for a good 20 mins taking pictures of herself. She was in charge of all these…

on the kids one… well we just decided we were done after our second baby because we just felt whole. we both just had a calm feeling our family was complete.

  2. Lindsay •

Ohh, could you please do a baby food post?? I’ve made sweet potato purée for my 5mo old, but would love some ideas for future meals!

  3. Finley has a pretty good eye for taking awesome photos! It’s all about the movement, baby!

I don’t think you’re going to convince her to be anything other than a princess, and you know it. She’s just too GOOD at rocking the tulle!

  4. oh my goodness! rowan on the rock / rowan with one foot on the rock / rowan making faces are just too much. what personality!

a question for you – how did you know to it was time to stop teaching and be home with your babe? my heart is having such a hard time with this decision….

  5. OK – as a mother of a 9 year old, I feel qualified to answer the Rainbow Looms question! They are tiny little rubber bands, of which you need millions apparently! Then you use them to make these colorful bracelets and such. Actually I’d bet you’d like it!! But I’d say your girls are still too young – they’re kind of complicated and can easily go off the rails!
Embrace the princess!! Because before you know it, she’ll be facing these crazy “sexy” costumes for young girls. What’s with that??
And the baby answer will come. One day you’ll just know one way or the other.

  6. First of all, I’m obsessed with your outfit! I’m a mom to a one year old and finding your style and the time to shop for it after kids is so hard…you always looks so put together.

The kids question: You are done when you can look at your family without regret. I mean not look at them and wonder should there be more. My friend worried about to have or not have the 3rd child…finally she decided she’d always wonder, possibly regret not having a 3rd. She just gave birth to their 3rd, a little girl and now she feels her family is complete. This might be terrible advice…but it has helped me.

  7. I’m just over the moon about you doing more outfit photos. I’ve always been a HUGE fan of your style… do I say that everytime? Well, it’s true! You’re one fabulously stylish lady and this outfit absolutely rocks. Aw, and Rowan with the remote… too cute. One day she’ll want to start a fashion blog, I am sure!! 😉

  8. Oh and I forgot to say… love the hair!! The lighter is hue is lovely on you. I’m booked to do mine in November and can not wait!

  9. rebekah •

hahah – she is pretty good at managing that remote while making faces! i love it. and i laughed out loud 3 times in a coffee shop reading this…. so that was fun…

  10. Loving everything FALL–your outfit, your leaves…a heater!? What’s a heater? 🙂 haha…
Great list. And great photos–in one of them (4th from the bottom) Rowan is doing some arm thing that Levi does when he dances…trying to figure out where they go that? (their dads, no doubt, haha.)
As for #15: You know my thoughts on a Hawaiian vacation. 🙂
    ALOHA!

  11. This is the cutest post!! What a beautiful and happy bunch of girls!

  12. I totally agree about the socks-I can never find the other pair. ever.

I think you guys should check out New Orleans for a vacation spot. I like doing the day things there. If you are thinking more beachy-maybe the Yucatan?

For the jackets – I buy fleece jackets for my lil dude (Columbia/North Face/Target even has some). It’s a thin layer that is still safe in the car – I asked when we had the Police safety team install the carseat.
And socks – a delicates bag. They sell them in the laundry section of Target. I always put the kid socks in there. So much easier than trying to find them…
Thank you for sharing, so many smiles over here 🙂 🙂

Our 3-year-old only wears things that twirl! It’s the age. As for the coats, we are spending a couple months in the Dominican so I’ll let u know in a couple months if I find any tricks for our girls (3 & 11 mos). Oh, and vacation somewhere warm, we are loving it (we’re new e glanders too!)

Ugh, #13. Same boat Jen. T has wanted to be nothing but Cinderella. We are all just grinning and bearing right now and soon it’ll be over.

And yes, those Roots sweatshirts are classic. I have the same one as Finley.

  16. SO CUTE! Roots for the win! #20, I think you know when you know – and since you don’t know maybe you’re not done? So nonsensical it almost makes sense?

  17. Sanibel Island, Florida for vacation! I cannot recommend it enough; bike paths all over the island, Ding Darling bird sanctuary, seashell capital of the world, sunsets over the Gulf, great shopping and restaurants, kid friendly, and the estates of Henry Ford and Thomas Eddison are AWESOME and are located in nearby Ft. Myers. I’ve been twice and am longing to return.

  18. i lived in a pair of Express (faux)leather leggings a few years ago…now needing a new pair. thanks for the pair!

  19. Such a cute post! I have a little Rowan too- mine’s a boy though. Great name! 🙂

  20. Get a mesh, zippered lingerie bag for the little socks:)

  21. you gals are so cute! and ditto on the cigarette smoke thing. some people…

  22. The rainbow loom makes bracelets out of little elastic bands. They were created by a Malaysian immigrant (small, family supplier!) and they are currently being sold at Michael’s and absolutely flying off the shelf, even with no chance of a discount because of the small supplier thing. I bought two for my cousins the other day for Christmas, and afterwards my mother did some research and apparently it’s a pretty decent learning tool because kids are going online to look up new patterns, reating their own, and going on YouTube to share with other people.

  23. This is so cute! What a great idea. I had gingerbread gelato two nights ago and it was easily one of the best things I’d ever eaten.

  24. Mónica •

I love you so tell us your thoughts are great. Sweatshirts of your daughters are beautiful. Kisses and happy weekend.

  25. I get stabby and ragey when people don’t turn their head to NOT blow smoke in my face, and I’m A)Not a baby and B)Don’t have babies! How can people be so rude?

As a fellow Canadian I love the Roots love! This has to be one of my favourite posts! You guys look like you’re having so much fun!

  26. Jen I wanna know where you live that you can have bare feet outside in Oct?? Freezing here in New Brunswick!

  27. Hey Jen! I love this look. Pairing a slouchy cardigan with faux leather leggings is the ultimate stylish, yet cozy everyday look. As a 30-something-soon-to-be-mom I always want to buy the latest trends i.e. ripped jeans, leather legging, etc and I always dread looking ridiculous. You have inspired me. This is a great look. I would love to see more of this type of thing on the blog i.e. How to wear the latest trends if you are not in college anymore. 🙂

  28. Let me k ow when you figure out #13!

  29. Kendi and What I Wore were the first fashion blogs I started reading – eventually I added dozens more to my reader but very quickly got sick of them all and now my Style section only contains my two favorites, they are just the best and the most real!
