Kev and I realized recently that we hadn’t been on a date in quite a while. When you become a parent there really isn’t a whole lot of time for dates, especially when your family (willing baby-sitters) lives far away. Special time alone is definitely something I think is important in a relationship. So if you have family close by, I would take advantage and try going out when you can. Unfortunately, our parents don’t live right down the street, so finding a quick and easy baby-sitting solution isn’t as easy as we’d like it to be. Instead, we decided to start having Indoor Date Nights. We pick one night during the week, put Rowan to bed a little early and get dressed up. We don’t go anywhere, we just get dressed up, set the table nice, cook a delicious dinner together and then plan one fun activity for that night. No TV, no phone and no computer. We enjoy our time together as if we were out on the town.
I thought it would be fun to share ideas from each of our indoor date nights because I know there are a lot of busy moms out there (or just busy, busy ladies!). If you don’t get a chance to get out a lot, there is no reason why you can’t have your own little date nights during the week at home! Here is what we did our first Indoor Date Night…
I’ll try to share one of these posts every so often. Enjoy! Let me know if you try it out.
Here is what I wore for our first indoor date night…
Outfit Details:
Karta Dress: Delightful Dozen
Essential Elegance Skirt: c/o Modcloth
Belt: Vintage
Leopard Wedges: c/o Lulu’s
Bracelet: Forever 21
Renegade Cluster Bracelet: c/o Stella & Dot
I love this idea! My husband and I play “YouTube Happy Hour”. Basically, you take turns picking YouTube videos (usually music) while having cocktails. Fun!
What a great idea and I might need to get those wedges now!
Great idea! My hubs and I do this all.the.time! Even with family in the area, it’s difficult to find the time and energy to really go out somewhere. We usually order food to be delivered, and use paper plates so no one has to do dishes. It’s a nice time of year to sit outside and enjoy the lovely fall weather…we were thinking of doing a little “bonfire” outside this weekend and roasting marshmallows (we have a fire pit for this, but a fireplace would work too??) 🙂
I love this idea, thanks for sharing! I agree that having time as a couple is soooo important once you have a little one. We struggle with the same thing and finding a babysitter isn’t always possible for us. I’m going to suggest this to my hubby 🙂
Aww, I love this! My mother in law actually DOES live down the street and we still don’t get out for date nights very often. We’ve toyed with the idea of doing date nights like you described but never actually done it — maybe your series will motivate me to really DO IT!
You looked very cute for your date night. We don’t do it that much here either. We should though. Maybe it’s a good idea for tomorrow, then it’s our 6th wedding anniversary 🙂 Thanks for the inspiration!
omg this is a dream date outfit. perfect dress and you paired it so well with that reddish brown belt !
Just laying in bed is my favorite date. Does that make me the biggest curmudgeon ever? <3

Looooove this idea, thanks so much for sharing and that dress is sooo cute!
What a great idea! I think I may just have to try this out with my hubby. We have family that’s always willing to care for our Lovie…we are just too attached (well, I am). But, this seems perfect! Thanks for sharing…and you looked FAB on your Indoor Date!
I’m so glad you and Kev got to have a date night! That’s so awesome.

Love the idea! We are new parents to a six month old baby boy. My parents keep him during the day since my husband and I have to work full-time so when it comes to date night, we hate to ask them to watch him more. They need a life too! I am going to try and implement this in our house!
Love the dress!

Thanks for sharing this idea!! I love it 🙂 No little babies for me, but I’m a grad student and my boyfriend is an undergrad, and we’re super busy (and poor). It’s definitely hard to find time to go out on a real date. We’ll have to try this out for sure! 🙂
My husband and I are all about at home date night! We try for every Thursday and tonight is the night, we’re doing a Spanish theme, tapas, flan for dessert, a Pedro almodovar movie and of course some Spamish wine. Fingers crossed Chickdee’s teeth won’t bother her too much and she’ll be able to sleep peacefully through our “date”.
Love your outfit! so fun and girly yet bold!
Those shoes are amazing! Love the dress too : )

What an adorable idea! It is absolutely genius! I think I will suggest to my husband tonight.
Here’s an idea- you can have a game night! Scrabble, and such.
What a great idea!
And what great shoes those are!
Date Nights are so important. I am a big fan of making it happen even if you have to transform your dining area into a romantic candlelit lounge…a little creativity goes a long way. Best tip…unplugging from phones, computers, tv, etc.
