One of the very first nights I hung out with Kev, we drove to the beach (2 hours away) at midnight just to sit on the sand and listen to the waves crash on the shore. We have always been known as the “adventurous couple”. We love exploring new places and just being out and about in general; we never want to waste any moment. The 6 years we spent together before Rowan was born were filled with exploring, road trips, and silly adventures. We did our best to make everything fun and exciting.
When I was pregnant we hoped for a baby who would love to come along with us on these adventures – haha – we laugh now because we ended up with just that! Rowan does not sit still for even a minute. She is always on the go. From the time she wakes up to the time she goes to bed, she’s constantly exploring. That’s why babywearing has become such a big part of our life. It allows Rowan to experience all of our adventures just as we do. We become one as we head out. Kev and I hand in hand, Rowan tucked close to my heart. Even the day to day tasks become an adventure to the new little being who is experienceing them for the first time. Her little “ooohs” when she sees something new just melt my heart. I want her to grow and experience as much of life as she can. I want to instil a huge passion in her to live each moment to the fullest. I want to show her so much of this life. These beautiful slings from Sakura Bloom really help with that. Whether Kev is wearing her around at a local art night, or I am running down the airport terminal with her, on our way to see my best friend in Georgia. Wearing her in a sling puts her right in the middle of our adventures and I wouldn’t want it any other way!
I have always been the tomboy who wore dresses. Haha, does that even make sense? I love beautiful floral dresses with fuller skirts! I will also be the first to climb a tree, scale some rocks or be up for any other sort of adventure in that beautiful dress. Dresses allow me to move around comfortably while still feeling super cute.

I love your dress! My sister in law had one of those slings for her babies and loved it!
Very sweet post Jen, I love hearing about your baby adventures. And the dress is super cute!
I am the same way in my dresses and skirts! We were on vacation last week and we went hiking on the day I wore a skirt…I love combining activity with fashion…
there is no doubt in my mind that Rowan is going to experience life to the fullest with you two as her parents. what a beautiful sentiment to keep her tucked close to your heart. you are an amazing mama. so happy to have learned of you through the styleathon!! beautiful post!!
I just want to tell you how beautiful you and your family are. I’ve been reading your blog for a year now, and I can honestly say that you inspire me! You’re not fake like a lot of bloggers I’ve read in the past. You look gorgeous In whatever you wear. I look forward to reading about your adventures everyday!
This dress is gorgeous on you!
I love what you’re wearing here, and your description of being a dresses-wearing tomboy. So awesome. The watch IS rad, and Rowan in those shades? SHUT UP! Yay for adventure and living life to the fullest.
Firstly Rowan looks so adorable, aww, love that she is trying on those sunglasses AND I’m smitten with your dress, it’s just awesome & looks SO great on you. Love it! xx veronika

Great outfit! I love that watch as well, so intricate and fun to look at.
Rowan looks so happy in her sling right next to mom 🙂 I think it’s such a great way for mom and baby to carry out their day.
What a sweet post! Rowan’s two little teeth are so precious and yes, I totally get the “tomboy” who wears dresses cuz that’s how I am!
I agree. It’s so weird but where most people feel more confined in a skirt, I always feel able to move around more freely.
Too much cuteness for one post, goodness! I just love that picture of her with her little teeth poking through.
I love these pics… I haven’t been commenting but I’ve been reading along:) I have that dress from Modcloth too, but in lighter shades. It looks great on you! Are you guys going to be seeing Eric and Erin while they’re home? We should all get together. I think Max and Rowan need to see each other again soon:) Take care!
this is so beautiful. . . all of it. i know exactly what you mean about being a tomboy who loves to wear dresses – i am probably the least “girly-girl” ever, but i love to feel pretty and get dressed up while making a mess of myself. i think it’s so awesome that you are a laid back mom who wants to let her kid have adventures and come along with yours – you see a lot of the opposite here in NYC. you are an absolute breath of fresh air!
