Well, it’s Friday! Yay! We are off to Ottawa tomorrow for the long weekend and as nervous as I am about the race, I’m really looking forward to sleeping in, relaxing and spending some time with Kev as Rowan visits Grandma and Grandpa. My procrastination of booking a hotel on a major race weekend left us having to book at a crazy (out of our price range) resort. haha. It was a hit to the wallet but I am excited for a fancy weekend getaway.
BUT!!!! Guess what? Our 5th Wedding anniversary is next month. June 16th to be exact and we are doing something super special!!!! We are going to Paris! We leave in 2 weeks for a week long adventure together. We have an adorable little apartment rented and I couldn’t be more excited. This will be my 4th time there but Kev has never been! I can not wait to show him one of my most favorite places in the whole world. Now I wont have to have all these single pictures of myself there…
OK, One last plug for donating to LOVE 146 for my run. Every Penny counts!!!
Here are my favorites from sponsors and around the interwebs this week…
1. Since we are going to Paris I have been collecting beautiful dress with full skirts to stroll hand in hand along the Seine in. This Modcloth Dress just showed up on the door step and I couldnt be more in Love with it!!
2. Remember this beautiful 81 Poppies dress that I wore to the TxSCC? Well 81 Poppies now has an online shop!! Yay!! And if you use the code jenloveskev at checkout you get 30% off your purchase!
3. Dang! James looks like one hot momma in these pictures! I can’t wait for that delightful dozen skirt to show up on my doorstep.
4. Oh gosh I want these Jeffrey Campbell Aztec wedges so badly. They are kinda crazy and awesome all at the same time.
5. This looks like the most relaxed comfortable summer dress ever to me! Love it!
6. I don’t regret for one second how Kev and I got married, but this bike wedding really is the most adorable thing ever. I am a huge fan of low key relaxed weddings!
7. Have you seen all the art prints that Spotted Moth carries now? They are awesome! I love this Rebecca Print. The detail in the hair is just beautiful!
8. Do you read Oh Happy Day!? I love Jordan’s blog and have been going back over all her Paris posts for ideas of things to do when we go.
9. The cutest skirt in all the land! Makes me want to skip thru fields and drink lemonade.
10. Rowan is standing more and more. She now walks her self along everything and than reaches for the next thing to move to and walk along. I am starting to think I want to get her this Melissa & Doug Alligator Push Toy for when she gets to this stage. I feel like it is right around the corner.
Happy Weekend Everyone!!
SO jealous that you are going to Paris for your anniversary! I went over 10 years ago, and am dying to take my husband to see it. Europe’s going to have to wait until I am done with grad school though…. happy anniversary! I’m a fellow June married, mine is on the 8th.
Jen, my FAVORITE thing I did in Paris (I was there VERY briefly) was a bike tour by Bike About Tours. It was AWESOME – it’s more of a back alley tour than Fat Tire’s (the bigger, more well-known company). They keep the tours very small (about 10 people), and it’s so informative – they really tell you stuff that you would never pick up on your own or read in a guidebook. It’s a little expensive (I think it was 30 Euro), but it was SO worth it, and my guide was the owner of company, which I loved (plus he was a Kiwi and had an adorable accent!). I seriously can not recommend it enough!
Good luck on the race! I will be doing the 10K on Saturday. It’s a new marathon course this year. My boss at the bike/tri shop (who is a coach) was telling someone to take it easy on the first half because although there are no major hills, you lose elevation on the first half and have to gain it back slowly on the second. Bonne chance!
Good luck in the race (sadly you will be running in the rain, it’ll be rainy all weekend!)
I love Paris! I think my favourite place is Montmartre and the Sacre Coeur…it’s so beautiful and has fantastic pastries. you and Kev should get a portrait! haha
good luck with everything. 🙂
We have that same alligator push toy and our son loves it! Good luck on the race!!
Aww Jen I’m so jealous! Paris is incredible! Last February my then boyfriend and I went to Paris, where he proposed in front of the Notre Dame.
Such a beautiful city!
Hahaha, the “insert Kev” pics are hilarious 😀
Have fun in Paris, I’ve been there 5 times but would return in a heartbeat if I could, a beautiful city (and check out the blog Little Brown Pen for gorgeous Paris pictures that really add to the longing). And first have fun in Ottawa, it’s nice to splurge on a fancy hotel sometimes!
OHMYGOD. we’ll be in paris at the same time! i promise not to stalk you, but if i do run into you anywhere i might freak out a little. you are a Person From the Internet, after all, and that’s basically a celebrity.
How wonderful!!! I’m so excited for you and Kev to go to Paris and I can’t wait for the pictures and updates! Good luck on your marathon this weekend!

Ottawa yay!
We just got back from paris last week!!! We had dinner at the best place – Christian Contant’s Les Croquettes. Sort of near the Eiffel tower. Delicious.
And frankly, sitting under the eiffel tower while it sparkles, drinking wine, never gets old.
So excited for you!
It sounds like it’ll be quite the eventful month for you…starting this week-end! Good luck with the race and happy week-end!
PARIS!! i have never been but I plan to go sometime in the next 5-10 years. Ideally with my future hubby. You must take and share tons of photos so I can live vicariously through you!
Good luck on your race!
Have a great marathon! I’ll be cheering for you from Reston, VA (I’m loud, you’ll hear me!)! I just donated a little for your cause! I know you reached your goal, but ever penny does help 🙂 I’m fundraising for a 5k in July for Autism Speaks!! So I know how hard it is to raise money!!
Paris sounds like a great and romantic way to celebrate those lovely 5 years! Can’t wait to see it all! Until june comes around good luck on the race!

My husband and I are Peace Corps Volunteers in Romania and are heading to Paris next weekend! Ah the joys of living in Europe! It’s our first time in Paris. Any suggestions from your travels there? The one quirky thing we’re doing is going to a Sunday ‘salon” that I heard about years ago on NPR. Info about it is here: http://www.jim-haynes.com/contact/index.php Happy marathoning! And happy travels! – V
How fun! My aunt and uncle very generously took me to Paris when I was 16, and I really want to go back.
Paris!! How exciting!! Have a great time in Ottawa!! Kick some marathon ace!! xo
So jealous of your Paris anniversary trip. I went when I was 16 and it was amazing! Also that Modcloth dress looks perfect for a Paris trip.
Your list of favorites/sponsors plus the announcement of your trip has me colored green with envy.
Can’t wait to hear all the details and see plenty of photos!
Have a lovely weekend!

Good luck with your race!!! My nephew has the alligator push toy and he loved using it to motor along before he could walk!
That’s so wonderful that you are going to Paris for your anniversary! Take lots of photos! -^_^-
Good luck with the marathon!
How cool! Congratulations! 🙂
Good luck with the marathon! I ran the Vermont City Marathon this weekend. It was super humid, but not too hot. I felt good until mile 15, then shuffled to the finish line. Hope you rocked your race!
And Paris, ahhhh, so amazing. I’m also trying to visit this summer……
Jen-I went to Paris in April and found out about a shop that you might be interested in. I did not have time to get there but everything in the shop is handmade and looks super cute.

Have fun!
What a great trip for Rowan and Kev. It might be a long plane ride for a baby but I’m sure it will be worth all the great memories you can make. She can say she was a world traveler at such a young age. Be safe and have fun.
Oh yay, June 16th is my birthday 🙂 Have a lovely anniversary in the city of lights.
