I have been a mad women all week running around trying to get everything done that needs to before we leave for vacation. Yep, we leave for vacation tonight. We are off to Florida for a week with friends. I. Can. Not. Wait.
This is what I wore yesterday as I hopped from place to place getting errands done. Oil Change. Check. Mother’s Day cards. Check. Sun hat for baby. Check. New bathing suit for Kev. Check. New bathing suit for me. Impossible. I think I have given up. The bathing suits out there are just terrible and I can’t bring myself to order a bathing suit online because well, the chances that it works out are about slim to none. Dear J.Crew: Please carry more of your suits in your actually stores. I would buy one if I could try it on. Love: Jen
Anyway, are you ever really ready to wear a bathing suit after having a baby? Eeek. Here’s to feeling healthy, being proud of how far I’ve come from those days right before birth and not focusing on the bad. IT’S BEACH TIME!!!
Denim Shirt: Target (Similar Top)
Headband (used as belt): c/o ModCloth
Dorrie Skirt: J.Crew
Paving Studs Handbag: c/o Le Mode Accessories
Converse Chuckits: c/o Kaboodle.
Have you ever used Kaboodle before? The kind folks over there sent these awesome converse shoes and I couldn’t love them more. They are so light and perfect for summer. Kaboodle is an awesome website that lets you make online shopping lists from products all over the internet. Check it out!
TOMORROW IS THE LAST DAY!!! Please vote again for me today!!! Vote here…
sooooo adorable!! I’ve been thinking of getting some chucks, and this is pushing over the edge!
Also, don’t worry, you’ll get comfy in a bathing suit soon. My first summer after my daughter was born I was terrified about wearing a suit, but now I feel almost back to normal and I”m toying with wearing a bikini again π
as a side note – you really do look amazing and I don’t think you have anyting to worry about!
i love how casual this outfit is! where in fla are you off too? π i live in miami!

Steffys Pros and Cons
I love how you style this skirt, I’m thinking about wearing mine today and you’ve just inspired me with the headband as a belt.
Also, I haven’t had a baby and hate swimsuit shopping… It’s just a fact of life.
so cute!!!! hope you have a wonderful and relaxing vacation π
You should check out Nordstrom Rack- if you have one near you- I have had luck there. Also while you are in Flordia check out Lilly Pulitzer their suits fit like a dream- even with hips and a bust. I would also recommend tommy bahama sometimes they have super cute suits. I have also had luck at Marshalls or TJ Maxx you just have to be willing to try on but that usually ends in me finding something! Gap Body has some great ones too. I wish you luck with your travels!!!!
Such a cute outfit!! You have inspired me! I have this shirt…now I must locate a similar skirt! Great job…
Jen, you look awesome! Don’t worry about how you look in a swim suit. I know it’s tough when your body goes through such an immense change – like pregnancy – but you look amazing, and you’re a friggin marathon runner! π Be proud, lady!
I know they’re not super cute… but whenever I don’t feel quite ready for a “fashion” swim suit, I wear a speedo (the axel back suit is flattering and stays put). Just a thought π
Have fun on vacation! I am sure Rowan will LOVE it!! π

Cute outfit! Love that orange skirt! P.S. You look great! Don’t sweat it!
I’ve found that the brand Coco Reef has really good suits! They size tops and one-pieces by bra size and it’s amaaaaazing. I have both a one-piece and a bikini from them and they both fit well and make me feel great! I’ve always been able to find them at DIllard’s. I think Macy’s might carry them, too.
Anyways, I love this outfit and I hope you have fun on vacation!
Love that bag! It goes really well with the bright skirt.
You look so good! Love the casual shirt with the bright skirt – I totally need to try that. Please wear your swimsuit with pride. You look great! π
Love how you styled the Converse shoes! I recently bought mine (in gray), but can’t figure out how to wear them just yet. This post, however, has certainly inspired me!

Cute! You look so preppy and all-American! Have fun at the beach, I’m jealous!
ohhh i dig this! the bright red pops with the olive sneaks. and the headband belt, so clever π
Lands End suits at Sears. I found an adorable navy and white polka dot suit there last summer. They carry some of the styles they have online. At least you could find your size by trying some on and then you could order one online. But, high quality and cute!
whenever i wear sneakers and a skirt it just makes me look a little juvenile, but i love your look here! hope you have a great time on vacation!
Outfit? Kick-ass! Denim & brights? I’m sold.
best (and most forgiving) bathing suit of all time. rock it.

Such a perfect casual outfit! Absolutely adorable. And, the best part is, I can recreate it! My skirt isn’t quite so bright orange (which is a bummer), and my denim shirt is a bit darker, but what an awesome use of staples! I’ll absolutely link back to you, because this outfit is too fun not to share!
This outfit is SO CUTE. One of my favourites you’ve ever done definitely. The colours just scream your (apparent) inside joy in front of that early spring background. Have fun on your vaycay!
I love your look today! Very cute and casual but still composed. You look comfortable too!
I have a somewhat similar body shape to yours (sans the preggernancy) and I swear by my black, low-cut one-piece (I call it my Jackie O suit). Kind of like this one http://www.barneys.com/Rio-Swimsuit/501044328,default,pd.html?utm_source=shopstyle&utm_medium=cse It’s a little boring but the cleavage-to-butt-coverage ratio is kind of ideal.
This is such a cute outfit! I’ve been loving the combination of chambray blue with orange or coral, and that headband as belt is the perfect extra touch. Like the sneakers, too. I may have to get myself a pair of those!
so jealous you’re going to the land of sunshine!!
i agree about the jcrew bathing suits. they need to carry them in stores and eliminate returns!!
xo
sami
girl you could rock one of those retro 50s one pieces better than anyone! especially with that too cute high bun you’re wearing today. p.s. i’m wearing the high bun too, love it!
Florida sounds amazing and I totally agree on the bathing suit thing – get those in the stores! A mail order suit is just asking for trouble…

Check out a J. Crew while you’re in FL, if you’re near one. I’ve bought a few of mine in the past from the store at International Plaza in Tampa. At least then you know how they fit and even if they don’t have the fabric you want you know what size is good for you!
…Which reminds me that I need new suits this season!
i would love to know what you are doing in that first photo π very cute outfit!
I love those shoes! Super cute! Well, the whole outfit is super cute.

If I had your figure, I would flaunt it! You are so lovely and no bathing suit could take away from that. With regards to online bathing suit ordering, Lands’ End actually has really great suits with separates that you can mix and match that are a fraction of the J Crew price. You can get just the coverage you want in all sorts of lovely colors and styles. I tend to favor them over anyone else. Also, they are available at Sears as well. Enjoy the summer weather!
I totally agree about the bathing suit dilemma! I could never buy a swimsuit without trying it on first… I hate returning things through the mail!
I also love how you used that headband as a belt! So cute! π
xx
I know ordering a swimsuit online seems like a form of self-torture, but I’ve found J.Crew’s sizing to be super consistent, especially since they redid it to be true to their clothing sizes. I wear their swimsuits almost exclusively because I always know which size I need. Swimsuit shopping in general is just a painful experience…prebaby or postbaby.
Have a blast on vacation!
I LOVE this outfit…I can’t put my finger on exactly what I love so much about it, but I just love it. It’s casual, yet cute…comfy yet well put together…well done π

Another great thing about lands end… you can return online purchases to Sears!
love your skirt and bag. Lucky lady that you are going on vaca!
Love that skirt!
You look amazing! Such a fun skirt!
I bet you’ll be super gorgeous in your bathing suit, regardless of what it looks like. Have fun!!!
Oh the dreaded bathing suit! I feel your pain!
I love love how you styled that skirt. I wore it yesterday, and u have given me inspiration on how to style the next time…. Thanks sweets. U always look so freaking cute.
I know exactly what you mean about not being totally enthralled with the post-baby body. Ack. But I keep reminding myself that what I did – gave birth to a baby! – was AMAZING and something to be so proud of. And afterall, I’d much rather have my little Jonathan boy than a nice body. Or my old clothes. (But some days that is easy to forget.) Also, this helped a lot: http://starvingartistink.com/living-in-the-glow-of-love/
You are lovely, and a MAMA! A lovely mama. π
Great skirt! I love your outfit!! XO Raspberry & Rouge

Hi. Love the outfit, but I’m wondering why you didn’t share the link to the shirt you are actually wearing in the picture (which is still available) but to one from one of your sponsors, ModCloth (that also happens to be more than two times the price of the Target shirt).
YouΓβre on top of the game. Tanhks for sharing.
