My Favorite Places

I got asked a little while ago on formspring where I thought the most beautiful place was. I am sure there are many beautiful places out there that I haven’t been to yet but I chose from places I have been and places that I love. I could’t pick just one though. I had to pick 3.

Paris: I have been lucky enough to travel around europe and extremely lucky to have been able to come back to visit Paris 3 times. I have said it before and I will say it again, I think I was meant to live there. I truly love Paris. It is a dream of mine to be able to spend an extended amount of time there. The buildings, history, culture and food just totally sweep me off my feet.

Hawaii: All the islands of Hawaii are beautiful. They each have something unique to offer but I will always hold a special place in my heart for Oahu. I love the smell of the pineapple fields as you drive up to the Northshore. I love more than anything Makapu’u Beach and walking up the trail to the lookout point or climbing down to the tidal pools. I love all the hikes you can take and the breath taking views. I love the little beach access ways to Lanikai and sandwiches from Kalapawai Cafe. I love that this is where we spent our first year of marriage together. I want to bring Rowan there so badly.

Ontario (Cottage Country)
It’s no secret that I love Canada, but where I wish I could spend every summer is up in a cottage on a beautiful lake, like in the Muskoka’s or near Bobcaygeon. My uncle has had a cottage up there for as long as I can remember and I have so many memories there. I think I love it so much because whenever I think about it, I can’t help but think of my family. I love family gatherings. We had a sail boat when I was younger and I remember being rocked to sleep, listening to loons as we would sail around some place like Thunder Bay. Kev and I want to own a cottage someday up there. We will call it our Canadian safe house. haha.

Those are my 3 favorite, most beautiful places. What are yours?

  1. My 3 favorites so far are -Banff, Canada -Disneyland -and Lake Tahoe, CA

the most beautiful by far was Banff. I haven’t traveled much. I hope to do more someday. I really want to visit Hawaii eventually and more of Canada.

  2. Oh wow, that is such a great post! Right now I’d love to pack up my things and visit all three places.
I feel the same about London, when I first went there, the city felt like home. Other than London I love Berlin – this city has so many different facettes and I love exploring them. Next I have to say Verbier. It’s the greatest area to ski I’ve ever been to!

  3. Beautiful!! This is a great post, mostly b/c I’ll be going to Paris in about 2 weeks with my Art Department. I’ve never been and we’re going for a week! I know you’re super busy, but if you had any recommendations for shopping, eating, etc I’d love to hear them! I’ll have to search your blog for Paris posts ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Thanks for sharing! These places are truly beautiful, I need to check out Paris.
I haven’t traveled extensively, but I did work on the Hawaii island, Kauai, for a week…and would do anything to go back to visit. Loved how small, secluded, and peaceful it was. Spouting horn, what a sight!

  5. I love this! I came up with mine as I was reading, haha. My favourites would have to be my cottage (also in northern Ontario), London (but more specifically that view from Trafalgar Square down to Big Ben), and the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland. What a lovely way to start your day! Thanks dear! And the Delightful Dozen launch was also awesome, good job!

Thank you so much for sharing! Paris looks absolutely lovely–I was thinking of studying abroad there. My favorite places have been Cape Town, South Africa; Amherst, Massachusetts; and Krakow, Poland. Each place has had something distinctly different to offer, but have been beautiful in their own ways. I’d love to hear more about your travel experiences!

  7. Yay Canada! I am from Toronto and would have to agree that Muskoka is absolutely beautiful. I’m with you on wanting to live in Paris, your pictures made me want to make my third trip back so badly.
    Love, L.

  8. Wow beautiful. ๐Ÿ˜€ I love the city I live in (Winnipeg) I love visiting my mom (Clearwater, Florida) and I love the idea of Dublin and would love to visit someday ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Your pictures are beautiful. I’m heading to Hawaii this summer for my Honeymoon, I’ve never been but your pictures and stories made me even more excited to go ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. I absolutely love Paris (used to live there) and so happy you picked it ๐Ÿ˜‰
Hawai looks amazing and I always wanted to explore America and Canada.
Personally, I love Scotland and Iceland. Not the warmest places but the most beautiful ones I’ve been to. ๐Ÿ˜€

  11. Great post! These all look amazing!
I have not traveled all that much but as I was reading your post I just kept thinking of Zion National Park, pure nature beauty. If I could live there I would ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. Paris is definitely high on my list too! I think I would follow it up with southern Spain, and finally Seattle. I LOVE Seattle! I grew up there so of course I’m a little biased, but the northwest is such a beautiful part of the states.

  14. You just made me yearn to go back to Europe! I turned 21 in Paris 2 years ago and it was the most amazing weekend of my life. I fell in love with the city and have the urge to jump on a plane and go right back now! Besides Paris, I love Ediburgh, Scotland, and Cinque Terre in Italy. The five villages that make up Cinque Terre are built into cliffs on the Mediterranean and its the most breathtaking views you will ever see. Go there!

I have not travelled all that much…yet. I have been lucky to go to Mexico, St.Lucia (honeymoon), Dominican Republic, Florida and Las Vegas. But I wish and hope to travel to Germand, Greece, Panama, Costa Rica, Hawaii and Alaska. I live in Ontario, Canada and my in-laws own a cottage on Balsam Lake – have you heard of it? It’s sort of close to Bobcaygeon. They’ve only owned it for a few years now, but my husband and I get up there every summer for a little bit and love it. So peaceful. All we do while we’re up there is swim, read, eat, drink, play games and go to Finland Falls for an ice cream. I would love to travel more of Canada and get out East to Halifax and go to Banff and Vancouver out west.

I heart Berlin. It is vibrant, edgy, laid back yet very modern. Even taking a bunch of school kids there every year hasn’t put me off. I am on maternity leave at the moment and am sad that I will miss out this year. I also love Iceland; the landscape is breathtaking. My third choice would be Barcelona. I love Spanish style, food and sun.

  17. I love Paris, too! However, my top three places are NYC, Mediterranean coast of Turkey, and my hometown Port Orford, OR. Now I’m daydreaming about all three ๐Ÿ™‚

  18. Jen! You are so lucky to have visited all these beautiful places. I hope to make it to Paris and Hawaii some day!

  19. I love Paris, and of course Ontario Cottage Country, since I *ahem* also cottage/camp there quite frequently.

I’ve never been to Hawaii but it’s on the list – especially after watching 6 seasons of LOST.

Other favourite places of mine are the south of Portugal, Vancouver Island (Canada), and Key West.

  20. Love love love this post!

My favorite places have got to be…
    1. Going to Turtle Cove in Agat, Guam and being the only one on the beach and being able to hike up the cliffside to WWII historic sites.
    2. All the beaches and dive sites in Pohnpei, Micronesia.
    3. Walking down West Grace Street in Richmond, VA in the summertime.
    4. Eating outside at a restaurant in San Marco in Jacksonville, FL and sitting by the river.

It’s too hard to pick one…even three! haha ๐Ÿ™‚

  21. Great pictures – so beautiful. Makes me want to go on vacation sooooo bad!

  22. 1. Cintsa, South Africa or really just about anywhere along the Garden Route in South Africa.

    2. The tiny towns of South Carolina and Savannah, Georgia (I’m counting that as a two-in-one because the states are close!)

    3. Yosemite National Park, CA and Acadia National Park, ME. My favorite national parks.

  23. Sarah •

Thunder Bay!!! . . . my home and one of my favorite areas in the world ๐Ÿ™‚

  24. what a great idea. i posted my top three on my blog too
