This super cute hooded romper is always the first thing I put on Rowan after the wash is done. I just love it. The pattern is so different and unique and the fabric is so soft. Also, I seem to melt when a baby has a hooded anything on. The Romper was a gift from Tea Collection. There is a big sale going on right now over there. I would definitely check it out. This romper is now only $19.50!!

A lot has gone on over the last few weeks. Christmas has already come and gone and we are already into our first week of January. Rowan is growing so fast. It still blows my mind when I look back at pictures of when she was just born. She is rolling over like a champ now. She can roll both to the left and right while she is on her tummy. No back to tummy yet, but we are working on it. Still no giggling too, she does do it in her own way but I don’t think it counts as a real laugh. She has also started making this ridiculous dinosaur/Darth Vador noise. It makes me laugh so hard. I don’t know why she does it, but it is hilarious.

Our days lately have been filled with highs and lows. Rowan is definitely teething, so she will go from being a happy little camper to being very upset very quickly. This morning we were laying in bed and she kept going from toy to toy chewing the crap out of them and just whining this sad, sad little cry. I felt so bad for her. I really don’t know much about teething. Anyone have suggestions for me? What works what doesn’t?

We are getting pretty good with our daily schedule. It takes a while to figure it all out but after a few months you start to know. Rowan usually wakes up around 8am. She eats. We play and then she goes back down for a nap 2 hours later. Somedays she wakes up at different times but I know whenever it is that 2 hours later she will need to go back down for a nap. She sleeps around 2-2.5 hours. She will eat again and then if we have errands, we go out and do them. She will usually take another nap around 3ish for another 2 hours and then she will be up until bedtime which is around 9. I think back to the early newborn days and remember the chaos of it all. There was no schedule and you wonder if you will ever feel normal again. Hang tight ladies! It all works out. Things calm down and you really learn to read your little. That’s how I felt anyways. Everyday that goes by Rowan captures more and more of our hearts. We honestly can’t imagine our life without her now.

  1. Oh, she’s so gorgeous! I absolutely love her little headband and that hooded romper…I want one (for me, hehe)! My good friend had the first New Year baby in Atlantic Canada (and since we’re ahead time zone wise, likely the first baby in Canada then)…she was the one I forwarded your cloth diaper post to. And he’s is beyond adorable…I feel like I am getting baby fever being seeing so many beautiful babes…ah, maybe it is contagious! haha 🙂

  2. She is just so cute! I love those little jeans she’s wearing, and the sweet little trainers. She has the most beautiful eyes.

I love your blog, you have such great style, and so does Rowan!

    xx

  3. cutest outfits ever! but i gotta say that romper is so awesome! my husband and i are hoping to expand our family this year and i’m so tempted to buy one of these rompers because they’re on sale!! is it bad luck to buy baby clothes before you’re even pregnant??
I have to say that I’m starting to see a little of you in Rowan now 🙂

  4. Oh my god, no! She is too cute! What lucky parents you are. Who doesn’t love a little hipster baby. I cannot wait to dress my little babes in perfectly fashionable outfits. What a ham!

    XOXO,
    Erika

  5. I love Rowan in this hipster Outfit. She looks adorable!!

Maybe you can try homeopathy for the teething. I don’t have childeren (yet) but I do a lot of babysitting and work in a kindergarden, most moms say they tried it and it works.

First of all, I think Little Sapling Toys is awesome. Rowan’s maple leaf is so cute – def not as cute as she it! We bought our son a WI teether from there when he started teething. Go Wisconsin!

For our teething baby we bought an amber teething necklace off of Etsy and even our daycare provider can tell a difference in his demeanor when he wears the necklace. Buy it here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/Amberforsale

Maybe it helped or maybe it was all in our heads, but I wanted to give it a try! Oh, and if you get a necklace from there it will come from Latvia so it takes a couple of weeks.

We also had to use baby orajel and tylenol to help him as the teeth came through. Poor sweet babes.

  7. she really is a little cutie! she looks like such a happy baby. love the little cardigan too. 🙂

It must be hard for you to see your beautiful baby upset from the teething! I don’t know if you can get it in the States, but here in Toronto I have seen a product called Camilia used with massive success for teething wee ones. Its toxin-free (no acetaminophen), sugar-free and dye-free and made from natural products like chamomile. Both my sister and best friend have used it and highly recommend it! 🙂

  9. Breanne •

    Gorgeous girl!

I have to say, I’m pretty jealous of her nap schedule. When my daughter was about her age (this time last year), she was all about the cat naps. She would take 3 to 5 30 minute naps a day. It always seemed like I would just sit to down to rest and she’d be awake again! Very tiring! I hope you have a good mix of rest and productivity during lovely Rowan’s naps!

  10. Oh, she’s adorable! My midwife suggested chamomilla 200 homeopathic for teething…It’s amazing stuff! You can find it at a natural foods store.

  11. Little Rowan is so precious! My husband got a glimpse of the pics as he passed by and got all mushy seeing the one with her maple toy on her face (and he’s not a baby person, Rowan’ just super charming!)

  12. Jennifer •

I highly highly recommend Sophie the Giraffe for teething. Every baby I know has one and *loves it*. Her legs can reach to the back of the babies mouth too for when they cut in their molars, which is rare for a teething toy.

  13. OMG Jen, she’s SOOO cute! Every time I see pics of her I think, “She’s just the cutest little thing!”

It’s romper like this one and the little headbands that cause me to LOOONG for a girl (after a healthy baby of course), lol – and of course I’ll be happy w/ a boy too! Please post some tutorials on her headbands…they are so cute!

  14. Meredith •

I highly highly highly recommend Humphrey’s Teething Strips! They are small square sheets that dissolve on your baby’s tongue (like listerine strips). They work quickly and apparently taste pretty good. My little girl would open her mouth as soon as she saw me opening the package. They are also great for a fever-reducer. Good luck!

  15. Jen, she is just the cutest! It feels like all my friends are having babies and I would really love to be a mommy! I guess I should wait for my wedding next summer first 😉

  16. Hi!! Teething is such a pain in the “you know what!!!”. Here are some things that have worked from my little ones….

    1. Hyland’s Teething Tablets ( you can get them at CVS pharmacies or Target)

    2. A super cold damp washcloth…for some reason both my babies loved those…

    3. A large frozen carrot ….(since they don’t have teeth you really don’t have to worry about them biting any pieces off…still monitor though)

    4. a slightly stale bagel…( again, since she doesn’t have teeth she should just kinda gum it to death).

Hope those suggestions help!!! Rowan is such a doll….we are due with our third little bundle on April 3rd…I can’t wait to have a baby around again!!

    xoxo

  17. I was going to get her that maple leaf teather from littlesaplingtoys. Glad now that I held off. As far as teathing I just used a little tylanol or motrin come bedtime to help him sleep. I did hear that the Hylands teething tabs were recalled – maybe they have a new product out now, but beware. Anthony always would gag on the washcloth and always managed to get a chunk out of the bagel so I didn’t do that. But I did find this thing that was like a toothbrush but it had a rubber end on it so he would hold it and it would get to the back of his gums. That would be more for when they’re older though I think. And lots of bibs. They’re not cute but it helps so you dont have to change them that often. I did see these cute new style ones that look like bandanas. They’re actually pretty cute. Sounds like you’re doing really well, she’s beautiful. Love looking at the pics. xo

Hylands teething tablets are stilled recalled and caused my baby a HUGE diaper rash that lasted a week.
BUT, Hylands homeopathic teething gel is great, if you don’t want to go to the Tylenol (which is still recalled, so get the generic brand)
you can have her suck on a wash cloth, just dip it in bottled water and you can freeze it or just have it real cold.
You have a sophie, any luck with it?

  19. omg! So absolutely cute. 🙂 My little man is 19 weeks and teething like crazy, he does enjoy Sophie though.

  20. Does that romper come in adult sizes…? I’m a pretty petite adult, maybe I could squeeze in Rowan’s!

  21. That romper is adorable!! I hear you on the newborn phase…I swear it almost killed me!

  22. a friend of mine gave me this great tip: take a clean wash cloth & just get it wet with really cold water (or even stick it in the fridge for a bit). it’s soft, easy for them to hold onto, and they love chewing on it!
    good luck!

  23. p.s. i have to admit: i love your blog lay-out so freaking much. i’m probably going to go into mourning when you change it. even though i’m sure it’ll be amazing. i just love every little bit of this here blog! the ripped paper edge, the little library card, the paint (!), the pictures. love it all.

  24. I almost bought that same romper and I don’t even have a daughter. ha ha Absolutely love the color and pattern – we are waiting to find out the gender of our second baby in February, so if it’s a girl, then I will definitely be snatching one of those up ASAP!

  25. how did you get the cutest baby ever? love her!

  26. Congrats on a schedule!! That is major. And Rowan is so incredibly expressive now, I love it!

  27. For teething we give our son hylands teething tablets, boob cubes(frozen expressed breastmilk!), and frozen banana(but she’s too young for that.). We put the frozen treats in this http://www.amazon.com/Munchkin-Fresh-Food-Feeder-Pack/dp/B000GK5XY2 .

Oh forgot I’ve also put a wet rag in the freezer 5-10min later it’s cold enough for them to chew on.

  28. Rowan has the cutest outfits!! Love seeing them all.

Our pediatrician said for teething to use the essential oil Clove mixed 5:1 with coconut oil. That’s what we are going to try! Hope you find something that helps!

  29. 1. she is gorgeous.
    2. love the bklyn onesie.
    3. what a sweet schedule for a lil’ lass! you go, mama!
    4. re: comments about your blog– definitely keep it up! i so enjoy the style files, the beautiful rowan posts (mini-style files!), and i make your felafels all the time! 🙂

cheers to you in 2011! xxoo

  30. You must add some of your headbands to Etsy – they are SO SWEET!

  31. Hey,
Hee, I saw the picture of Rowan with her hand in her mouth, and I went, oh, she’s definitely teething! That is always tough. 🙁 I just want to second the Sophie the Giraffe notion. Both of my little ones *loved* chomping on her legs. A frozen washcloth will work as well.

All the best to you and your family in 2011 🙂

  32. Sophie the Giraffe. Works like a charm!
