ok, so I have to say so far so good with the 30 for 30 challenge, but then again I am only on 5. haha. I was nerdy and drew out sketches of all 30 outfits before I started. Did any one else do that? I love this little brown dress. Its pretty short when you sit or bend but, oh well. I love it just the same. My favorite parts are the lace collar and little puffed shoulders. If you follow me on Twitter you know that my sister and I sat around most of the afternoon on Sunday watching Anne of Green Gables. Boy, do I love that movie/mini series. I love the part when she is going to the ball and she wants big huge puffy sleeves. haha the blue dress she gets from Matthew is CRAZY! Those sleeves are huge. I love the lace neck though. Did you love Anne of Green Gables? I think Anne is the most dramatic 16 year old I have ever seen. Watching it now as an adult is seriously funny. My sister and I couldn’t stop laughing half the time.

I love this dress too. The peter pan collar really makes it. Lookin good lady 🙂
My favorite part is the puffed sleeves, too! But that is probably because it was our father’s favorite part growing up and he liked to reference it. Our father is not a sentimental man, but that got to him every time!
(Oh and I don’t think Anne is a Canadian thing, but my sister is Canadian and we did live there for a short time, so maybe that is why we loved it in our house?)
The Auspicious Life
You look great! And your hair is getting so long- I love it!
Tres adorable! Very thanksgivingy. 🙂
the good thing about shorter dresses is super long-looking legs! And I love the colors on this outfit.
you are one hot mama! very cute outfit 🙂
I loved, LOVED Anne of Green Gables when I was little (both the books and the mini-series). I am partial to the Anne of Avonlea movie (esp. her outfits!), but really both have to be watched in succession anyways (goodbye 10 hours of my life). I think this is my secret single girl behavior– when my boyfriend is out of town, you can garantee that I’m watching this or some Merchant Ivory movie!
I always LOVED the Anne of Green Gables books when I was a kid, more than the movies. I had actualy been thinking of going back to that series now, but I definitely want to re-watch the movies and see her through more adult eyes!
I was thinking of watching that series. Love the sleeves and collar of your dress. So pretty 🙂
Anne was my great inspiration when I was younger. I love her, love the books and loooove the series!! Oh, Gilbert in sixpence and suspenders… aww. But yeah, now that I have turned 23 and started to be more confident in myself, it was kind of funny to watch it again (I think I did it during Spring). She is seriously dramatic! Though I can’t deny the fact that I shed a few tears once in a while 🙂
I created a spreadsheet of my outfits before starting the 30 for 30. I’ve strayed from it quite a bit, but it’s helped overall.
I LOVE Anne so very much. I grew up watching the movies, read the books a few years ago, and have even more appreciation for her as an adult.
I heart this post and your blog. 🙂
I was so excited to go to Prince Edward Island and see where Anne was from. and get to dress up like Anne.
I’ve been wanting to see that movie for a while now. I need to check it out in the library soon!
I love Anne of Green Gables! I was kind of obsessed when I was younger. We actually went to Prince Edward Island on vacation. I love Anne of Avonlea more however, Gilbert was my first love:)
This dress looks perfect on you! The colors are great!
Anne is my favorite heroine, now and forever. I will always be obsessed with puffed sleeves! In all of the books I’ve read that have impacted my character and identity (I’m a literature Ph.D., so there are lots of them), I think Anne of Green Gables ranks as the most important. And, since it’s rainy and disgusting outside here in DC, I think I now need to watch the movies!
I wish I had a cute flowery, puffed sleeved dress to watch them in…like you!
(PS–It’s funny that you posted this today. I just did an entry on my blog this morning about dressing like book characters, or at least in the spirit of the book. I’d be honored if you checked it out! biblioMOMia.blogspot.com)
I am totally winging this outfit thing- no sketches, no planning, not even that much matching when I first picked the items. We’ll see how it goes!
I am Australian and watched AOGG growing up. LOVE IT.
She was so dramatic but that was why she was so cool. And I just wished she would hurry up and give poor Gilbert a chance… oh Gil… *swoon*
