30 for 30

It’s 2:04am and I have been up editing these photos for like 2 hours. I am so going to regret this in the morning when the baby wakes up and I don’t get to sleep in. DOh! I couldn’t help myself though, I wanted to get this post up. I decided to join Kendi’s phenomenon that is the 30 for 30. Why you ask? Well, I started this blog way back in hopes of sharing with people that you didn’t need to spend a lot on clothes to look great. I still maintain that philosophy, but sometimes materialism can get the best of me and leaves me with a feeling of needing more. I def. don’t need more clothes! My closet is overflowing, but I seem to find myself lately standing in my closet thinking I have nothing to wear. That is why I thought it would be a great challenge to pick 30 items from my closet and remix them for a month into 30 different items. I am a little nervous but excited to get creative. It took me most of Sunday afternoon to figure out what my 30 items would be. I drew out little sketches of all the outfits so I am ready to go. Here are my picks…

30 Pieces from my Wardrobe

It may take me longer than a month. I have not taken 30 outfit photos in a month in a very long time. I am lucky if I get 2 up a week, but I am going to try my best.

Are you taking Kendi’s 30 for 30 Challenge?
Let me know if you are!

  1. I am! Really excited to see you are doing it.
I have always admired your style, I can’t wait to see what looks you come up with.
    Have fun!

  2. Ooooh can’t wait to see your remixes! I wanted to do the challenge, but I think I’m going to wait until next time! Good luck!

  3. I’m doing the challenge and I’m like you. I’m not so sure I”m going to get my 30 outfits up in 30 days. I’ve been staying up way past my bed time these last couple of nights to get it done!

  4. I’m in for the outfit remixes too! I’m excited to see what you come up with. I love your green UO shorts. Super cute stuff Jen!

  5. I love your picks. That Madwell top is fabulous! And yes, I am also participating.
    Good luck with your photos!

  6. What a great idea. I’ve moved apartments two weeks ago and had to face the ridiculous amount of clothes I own. And I still can’t figure out what to wear in the morning 🙁 I think this is a great way to get reacquainted with your clothes. I need to do a big purge first before I dive into such a challenge. I’m rooting for you!

  7. I’m pretty sure you are going to have some awesome outfits! I should do this, because I swear my closet is only full of tshirts and old tops and dresses I would never wear… but maybe I could find something in there!

  8. I’m participating as well. I included that same gray J.Crew skirt in my 30 items…I think it’s going to be a really versatile piece. Happy remixing…I can’t wait to see what you come up with 🙂 And no rush to get finished in exactly 30 days; it took me almost two months last time!

  9. i sure am 🙂 and i’m stoked!! this is what my blog is all about 🙂 but obviously with more items.
good luck jen 🙂 knock’em dead!

  10. Wow! Nice work. The layout looks awesome. And this will definitely help you with the challenge!

  11. Great stuff! Can’t wait to see what you do with it! 🙂

  12. I think this is a great idea. My sister lived in London for a summer and said people own a lot less clothes there and where the same outfits even from day to day. One thing though… no jeans?!?

  13. I’m doing the challenge! I’m super excited to see your remixes, especially since you picked so many interesting, detailed pieces! I’m afraid I went a little too conservative and now my challenge stuff is almost all neutrals.

  14. I love your picks Jen! I love that you have so many dresses and patterns!

I’m already regretting have so many solids and not enough dresses in my 30 for 30 and I’m only on day 2- uh oh.

  15. Cute pieces Jen! Great colors and patterns. Looking forward to see what you come up with!

  16. I love your explanation – I’m not a style blogger, but was feeling the same way and thought the 30 for 30 challenges would be a great way to remind myself of the differences between needs and wants…. Your pieces are great – looking forward to seeing the outfits you come up with!

  17. I’m doing the challenge! I’ve never posted an outfit photo in my life. I’m only two days into the challenge, but I have so much respect for those of you post outfits regularly. It’s way harder than it looks!

  18. I am! On day 2 already!

  19. OH! Sounds like a good idea. I bet I have 30 pieces in the pile of clothes that lives on my floor.

  20. yes, i’m doing the challenge! i need to plan out all my outfits still, but i’m having fun with it so far. can’t wait to see what you remix!

  21. yay! i love your choices. i’m working the 30 for 30 with mostly maternity clothes right now and…after two kids i got rid of all my old mat. clothes. and i’ve noticed what i’ve accrued in 4 months is kind of dark. yikes! the shopping is the hardest part for me…i mean, not yet but i know it will get there. good luck with getting photos up! i can’t wait to see them.

  22. This is such a fun challenge, I can’t wait to see your outfits!

  23. I love your item picks – can’t wait to see how you style all of them! I’m taking part in the challenge as well – I think the hardest part is going to be the no shopping!!!

  24. Yay! I’m excited that someone i already subscribe to and who’s taste i value is doing this challenge. Looking forward to seeing your remixes for sure!

  25. Hey Jen!
I’m taking the challenge as well and I choose that red and blue tunic from F21 as well! Good luck; I look forward to seeing your looks:)

PS Rowan is adorable, in case I haven’t mentioned that yet. Max can’t wait to meet her!

  26. You’re pieces all look so awesome!
I hope mine last me all thirty days this time though, haha 🙂

  27. You have so many cool items to choose from! I feel like my 30 picks might be a little too neutral-heavy, so I’m excited to see all the unexpected combinations you come up with! I’ll take notes for the future.

also – I’ve been reading your blog for a while, and although there are no children coming my way any time soon, I have absolutely loved reading about your experience with Rowan (adorable girl, adorable name!) and how honest and open you are. can’t wait to read more!

  28. yes! i’m taking kendi’s challenge as well. i’m looking forward to learning how to use my items, and to mix/match things that are out of my comfort zone!

  29. I’m thrilled that you are doing the challenge this time around. It should be fun to see you mix and match those items! This is my second go-around and I am still learning so much from the exercise. – Katy

  30. I’m so excited you’re doing the challenge! I love that dress from lulu’s and can’t wait to see how you remix it!

  31. Jen, I LOVE that you’re doing the 30 for 30! 🙂

  32. I love your picks and style (I’ve been following you for awhile and too shy to post anything)! I am also participating in Kendi’s 30for30 challenge!

  33. I forgot to add– I’m excited to see how you style your denim button down, I really want one but don’t know how to style it!

  34. I was considering taking the challenge- it seems like an awesome idea!- but I’m moving soon so I’m going to have to drastically cut down my wardrobe. I wanted to enjoy as much of my closet as I can while it’s still full!

anyway, I’m excited to see everyone’s outfits!

  35. I am taking part in the 30 for 30 remix! Check out my blog at http://www.tightsandtanks.blogspot.com to see(:

  36. I’m doing it, but slightly nervous. I finally made my picks last night. Whew!

  37. I took the Kendi Challenge! I’m excited to see what you come up with. You have some great pieces!

  38. Love the pieces you picked! Can’t wait to see what you do with them.

  39. Yay! Love your picks- the dresses are so cute. I’m doing the challenge and can’t wait to see your 30/30!

  40. I am also participating in the remix challenge…for me it was a way to add my personal style to my blog. I am super excited to see what you come up with (and am in luuuuuurve with the Madewell top)!

Happy Remixing – no matter how long it may take!

  41. Good luck.

I was tempted to do this, but my fashion sense is a bit lacking. Maybe I should do it. It would totally force me to think about my style a little more….hmmm.
