I seriously can’t tell you how excited I was to start taking outfit pictures again. Its a nice excuse to remember to get up and get dressed because some days it seems easier to just stay in pjs. I always feel more accomplished though when Kev comes home and I am dressed. I have had a few new Modcloth dresses in my closet that I have been dying to wear. I ordered them before Rowan was here, but I ordered them in sizes to wear after she came. This dress is just so pretty. Its light weight and has a fuller skirt which makes me feel so feminine. I can imagine wearing it all thru the winter with different colored tights. Yay! for new dresses.

I think today I am going to cut my bangs. I have been debating with myself for months on whether to grow them out or not. This is the longest I have ever lasted without cutting them, but I think I have had enough. I had visions of wearing it parted in the middle with no bangs like I see on a lot of pictures, but I try it and I just like look 7th grade Jen with middle parted hair. I don’t think I will ever get there, so I think its time to snip, snip. Eeek I don’t know though? I hate feeling regret afterwards because its not easy to grow them out and I have had a good run of about 9 months with out cutting. Ahhhh I don’t know what to do?

Flowering Heliotropes Dress: c/o Modcloth
Cardigan: Banana Republic
Blouse: Target
Black Flats: Target

  1. Totally love this outfit! What a great idea to get some cute dresses to wear after giving birth.

  2. Adorable. I love the headband and cardigan. Perfect accessories.

  3. I have this dress too! You look SO adorable in it Jen! I really like how you put the blouse underneath it. 😀

  4. I am in the same boat with my bangs!! Mine are grown out for the first time in a long time, and I have a hair appt next week. I keep going back and forth! If you cut yours, maybe that will be inspiration for me to cut mine too 🙂 Oh the never ending bang dilemna

  5. don’t cut them yet. i am doing the same thing and i almost cut thema few weeks ago because they were such an awkward length. i was too lazy to make and appointment so i never did and i am so glad. hold out another month and then if you still want them, do it. also, as a mom of two? bangs are really annoying while changing diapers, unless you get the super short kind.

  6. I would think about what is easiest with Rowan. Do you like them longer so you can tuck them behind your ear or pull your hair back without bangs in your face? I know it is definitely a hard decision to make. I am such a freak about my hair! The bottom line is that hair does ultimately grow back and you have had bangs for a long time so I can’t imagine you will hate it if you cut them. If you are still so on the fence about it I would wait a little longer.

I LOVE this outfit! You are so smart to have gotten dresses to wear post baby. You deserve to fit into beautiful clothes and not dwell on the fact that you can’t necessarily fit into your whole wardrobe. I can’t wait to see more style files!

  7. cute shoes!
I totally think you should cut your bangs…I did a medium-level hair change when I had my baby & it was such a lift to feel like a looked a little different…just a nice update!
ps. coming from someone with uncontrollably curly hair…enjoy the fact that you CAN have bangs!

  8. Oh my gosh, Jen you look so adorable!!! I love that dress, it’s so perfect on you.

Bangs are soooo tough!! I’m sure you’ll look gorgeous no matter what, but I did really love your straight across bangs too.. xoxo

  9. That dress looks great on you! I’m also due for a haircut. I’ve been thinking about making a big change this weekend and cutting it all off but how nerve-wracking! You can’t help but to think, what if you don’t like it? I say, cut your bangs! and if you don’t like them bobby pin them back for a few weeks 🙂

  10. You love beautiful, Jen!

  11. so so so adorable!

  12. the great thing about hair is that it always grows back! cut the bangs. if they don’t look well, you will be forced to come up with creative ways to camoflauge them, which is a style challenge in and of itself!

I went through the exact same thing with my bangs. I finally cut them and felt like myself again!

So happy style files are back!!

  14. You look great momma! I tried growing out my bangs for the past few months, but I’m about to give myself a Betty Page trim again. YAY for kitchen scissor bangs ^^ lol

  15. I second the “hooray for dresses”!

  16. You look so beautiful in that dress, is so bright that gives some happiness when i saw it 😀
Bangs or no bangs that’s a real dilemma… now i have no bangs and make a bun very polish or like yesterday that i wear it parted in the middle but a little up not flat flat…. but i think is the way you feel… when i’m feeling done with this long i’m going to cut it.

And always said when you cut it you have to feel wonderful, is all about actitude…. and that actitude you proyect in others…. and don’t worry hair grows after all. 😀

  17. Pretty Dress

  18. This dress was made for you! You look adorable in it!

I am so impressed that you are already back to your style files! You are definitely my inspiration for when I have a baby one day. 🙂

  19. I love how you’ve put the blouse underneath the dress. Cut your fringe (bangs) as seriously, I’ve got two kids and having a fringe is a pain. Once I got rid of mine, life was better. 😉

  20. I love this outfit! So very cute. Love your style!

  21. I love this dress – and it looks beautiful on you!

I don’t have a baby, but I’d say cut the bangs! That’s simply because I love bangs, though. So you probably shouldn’t listen to my advice. Good luck with deciding!

And btw, I can’t believe how tiny you look! I only pray I look that good right after my first baby:)

  22. I have had sideswept bangs for a good couple of years now. I love how they frame my face and add interest when my hair is pulled back. But recently I feel in love with a new look. I just wrote about it on my blog:

Hi Jen, you look beautiful!! Love the flats with this dress. A question– you may be the only “normal sized” blogger I see wearing things from ModCloth. I love their dresses, but as a size 8, i can’t fit into ANYTHING they sell! I can’t tell you how many things I’ve returned because I bought the largest size and it still didn’t fit. Please tell me what your philosophy is on fit… I’d love to buy their clothes but it seems like they’re made for tinytiny girls… except that you rock MC stuff quite well! Letta sista know. Thanks!!!

  24. I love this whole outfit. I always try to wear my hair like that with a headband, but I can’t make it stay very long. It’s so simple and I love it though.

I cut my hair into bangs at the beginning of fall and just sort of let my hair evolve into different styles… that sounds lazy.

  25. super cute outfit! great job jen, you look amazing!
