LOFT Holiday Preview

So last Tuesday I invited one of my favorite blogger friends to come into NYC with me to go to the Loft Holiday Preview. As I said before and I will say again, my favorite thing about blogging is the community- it has been incredibly awesome getting to know Julie and to be able to call her my friend. We have so much in common and I just really enjoy spending time with her. We planned on having this amazing day in the city but the weather did not want to cooperate with us. We got soaked, we had blisters, we got ripped off with $25 stupid tiny umbrellas, we were exhausted, paid way to much for food & drinks and well are still trying to navigate the subway system without looking like total tourists. I think overall we had good attitudes and still enjoyed ourselves, but I will say we very much enjoyed coming home, taking showers and watching Arrested Development on the couch later that night.

The day started off good. We meet one of my other favorite blogger friends, Jessica at the MET and went and saw the American Women exhibit. It was of course awesome but ended way to soon. I think the “American Women” has more to show past the 1940’s. I could have stayed in the exhibit for like an hour longer. I wish there was more because it was pouring out and we didn’t want to leave. The rest of the day was spent trying to avoid getting wet and killing time until the Preview started. I will say it was well worth the wait because LOFT did a fantastic job!! The elevators opened and you were instantly placed in this amazingly beautiful atmosphere. Every detail was beautiful. The space, the floors, the layout and of course the clothes. I, instantly was like Hmmm how do I get this job of setting up and styling at LOFT? haha. Dream job, right? Oh man it would be so freakin’ awesome.

The more and more I go to LOFT the more and more I really fall in love with what they have to offer. I feel like lately I am coming to this age where I am really disgusted by cheap and blah clothing from stores like Forever 21 and H&M. Don’t get me wrong, I will continue to shop there for some things for budget reason but I am understanding the benefit of buying nice quality pieces that will last you more than one season. Everything LOFT had displayed was extremely well styled and made me long for the crisp air of fall and winter. I loved the tweed jackets, fur collars and long cardigans. Plus don’t get me started on the jewelry!! I have already marked the lookbook with wishlist items. I can’t wait for them to come to the stores! I would def. recommend visiting a LOFT store over the next few months as these pieces start to come out and see for yourselves. I know you will love them all as much as I did!

p.s. you can def. expect to see that faux fur collar (below) being a major staple to my winter wardrobe. *Swooon

  1. ah!!!! i, too, want that fur collar!!!! love. love. love.

  2. Hi Jen – this is the first time commenting your blog, although i have been reading it everyday since the beginning of the year.

I love it! Thanks for all that you do.

I did just want to point out though, the last tag of Julie takes us to a “repent or burn” website, and I’m sure you’re not that sort of Christian. Perhaps a mistake? 🙂

Keep up the good work! Looking forward to meeting your wee girl! (and Kevs latest letter is the sweetest!!)

  3. I completely agree with being a bit disgusted by the cheap nature of so many of the Forever 21 and H&M finds. I’ve been obsessing over LOFT lately myself, and also found a favorite in Target’s Merona Collection which has some great fully lined pencil skirts and lots of fun prints. The quality on that stuff is surprising considering most of the stuff is under $30, so clearly it’s possible for the cheaper places to do it, they just go the route of really poor workmanship instead!

  4. So gorgeous the necklaces, and the knit purple collar… love them 4 winter wheather 😀

  5. haha whoops. Thank you Sophie. Fixed!

  6. I am with you and Sara – LOFT lets us get trendiness without looking too cheap or “junior-y” at an affordable price(hello sales!). I just discovered them and cannot wait for the Fall/Winter stuff to come out!

I have found myself craving more “grown up” stuff since becoming a Mom.

  7. Oh, gorgeousness! I want that fur collar too and the fur hat. I swear Loft is really doing a great job at enhancing their image.

  8. That would definitely be a dream job, everything looks amazing!

  9. I just visited the American Woman exhibit, and I was really surprised about the length too! I was expecting it to be much longer than it was, but regardless, the clothes were gorgeous. And I totally agree about spending a little more on nicer pieces-I can’t wait to check out the Loft’s autumn pieces when they hit stores!

  10. The American Woman exhibit sounds so lovely – and the LOFT pieces are gorgeous! I also adore that fur collar, so warm and comfortable looking.

  11. Awe you and Julie sound you had an amazing day! I got caught in that darn storm in the city the other day as well! Without an umbrella no less!

  12. Thanks for posting! I’m so excited for their fall line now. Loving that stripe jacket/bright pink combination.

I totally agree with you about wearing more grown-up tailoring. I call F21 “disposable fashion” and save those for the super trendy stuff. Some of my best staples are from LOFT. They have great sales too!

  13. oooooh, that fur collar! I totally adore LOFT (but I still like F21 and H&M)… and honestly, my garments from both places have lasted equally long. But I get your point — there’s definitely no disputing the quality from LOFT. Anyway, do you know how much that collar costs/will cost? Thanks!

  14. You just can’t beat good quality (although pricier!) clothing items. I’d say most of my current wardrobe is full of things I bought years ago from better quality clothing stores and I’m so glad I did spend that money when i could cause now I’m a SAHM and I have a budget. I can’t spend a heap of money on whatever I want so I have to make do with what I have.
And being a mum now has changed my sense of style and understanding of fashion…I dont want to look like I follow every trend… I want to look classic and chic!

    everything is sooo pretty….

  16. hi Jen! long time no comment 🙂 but of course I’m still in love with reading your blog. I was so excited when you mentioned earlier that you were going to a LOFT Preview b/c recently it has become one of my favorite shops at the mall! They have the most adorable things (there is currently a pink skirt i want so badly) and their accessories are so fun!

I agree with the taste changing thing that you want something of higher quality… I found myself saying “I never thought I’d shop at an Ann Taylor store” but everything is sooo beautiful, their designers and stylists do an amazing job! Thanks for sharing! xo

  17. Is it too soon to be dreaming of fall? You’ve certainly got me into the mood now.
