So I called out of work today because I feel pretty terrible. I think I have a sinus infection. Whenever I get a cold it goes instantly into my sinus’ and oh its just so painful. I hope you are all staying heathly and well this first week of the new year!
Anyways, we pushed sicknesses aside last night to get a little dressed up for a date night. We went out for a wonderful dinner together and then a little bookstore browsing, which for some reason we both really love doing. We always have good discussions when we go to the bookstore, maybe because we always end up looking at art and design books/magazines.
I wore my new Jeffrey Campbell Potion wedges. A little while ago I won a gift card to ebay from Lucky Style Spotter and as soon as I got it in the mail I new I wanted to find these shoes. Now I wish I had a budget for the Chloe Sevigny ones for Opening Ceremony but these Jeffrey Campbell ones work for me as well. I think I was a little inspired by her outfit in the ads as well. I went with a leather skirt though instead of shorts and this thrifted blouse that I got at the goodwill. I love how it ties into a bow at the top. I think its cute!
What do you think?

Hott! But how long does it take you to put them on, with all those buckles?!
you dont have to touch the buckles, there is a zipper on the other side!! its a good thing too!
totally awesome shoes!
i love your mix of sexy and sweet with the leather skirt and girly blouse! a great pair. and those shoes are pretty great.
I’ve always loved those shoes! They look so great with the leather skirt too, Jen! I hope you feel better very soon!
Love those shoes. I hope you don’t have a sinus infection. I am on round two of antibiotics for a sinus infection that spread to an ear infection because I waited too long to go to the doctor. Take care of yourself and I hope you feel 100 percent soon.
I absolutely love shirts that tie at the top! And those shoes are very cute.
You do such a great job matching accessories to your outfits. Very inspiring!
Hope you feel better, and this outfit is sooooooo cute! I LOVE those shoes! – Natalya of Wear Necessities
I LOVE that blouse! What a cute date night outfit too!
Those shoes are SO awesome, I have total shoe envy. Great outfit, I love the juxtaposition of the flirtier shirt and the shoes!
And I forgot to say before hitting enter: I hope you feel better! There’s been some bug going around Boston, everyone is sick!
Those wedges are divine, lady! I actually think I prefer the JC version to the Opening Ceremony ones.
Those wedges are exquisite. And I love how everyone else in the comments are loving them too : P
I love the print on that blouse. Only something found at goodwill could be so unique and fun!
Ahh I’m coughing and being all sinus stuffy as I read this! I hope you feel better soon- being sick is no fun. P.S. shoes = so hot!
Those wedges are pretty awesome! I love the blouse too.
Hope you feel better soon!
I think you look great! That’s what I think! Goodwill sounds so amazing. I’ll keep my eye out for a store when I’m over in the US in summer.
oh man…feel better. i’m so prone to sinus infections. have you ever tried a neti pot? it helps so, so much. and even tho’ i hate taking meds, mucinex helps a lot, too.
Before we moved last summer I cleaned out my closet for donation. I’m pretty sure I placed my leather skirt (very similar to yours) in the donation pile, which I finally took in 3 weeks ago. I hadn’t worn it in ages & I figured I wouldn’t miss it. I’m kind of having regrets now after seeing how cute this outfit looks.
i love this outfit! the bow-tie blouse keeps the fierce shoes/leather skirt from looking too dominatrix. you achieved perfect balance!
your outfit looks beautiful (those shoes!) get well soon!
I think you always look smashing and those wedges are an edgy fashion statement fer sure. They verge on looking kind of orthotic, in a good way of course.
Beautiful shoes, I am kinda drooling over here. Wait let me wipe it…………………… . You look great as always, love your style. Gongrats on winning. I won the wardrobe from Lucky Style Spotters but I am still waiting for it to arrive:)
I’m sorry to hear you are ill. Sinus infection are horrible. But those shoes are frickin’ awesome!!! It’s such a runway look, and you pull it off wonderfully.
i’m in love with your blouse! i can’t believe you only got it for $4, so jealous. glad your date night went wonderfully. get well soon! it’s never fun being sick. 🙁
i totally relate to your bookstore/conversation point. i think especially when you have kids, it’s easy to just talk about life and kids and blah. for whatever reason, bookstores remind us to think deep thoughts and dream big dreams. probably because we’re surrounded by the works of great minds. it’s inspiring.
This outfit is FANTASTIC. First I can’t believe that top is from Goodwill because it’s amazing and second – great purchase with your eBay gc. Loves!
This blouse is amazing! So jealous!
Ohh I love the top! And those shoes are killer!
Great shoes! I think you picked the perfect outfit to show them off.
I have a cold too, but it’s summer!!!
Anyway, hope you are on the mend soon xxx
loooooooving the blouse! you could take it in so many style directions – funky, biker, conservative, classic … so many options!
i’m a teacher, also. i actually mentioned you over on my site a day or two ago when talking about teacher style. i definitely dig your teacher style files – i wish i could amp my outfits a little like yours but it wouldn’t quite fly in my environment haha.
I couldn’t love those shoes more. You look so amazing!
this shirt is amazing… i LOVE it! the these shoes… oh my!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I adore your blouse, too! Annie.
I just love that blouse! I would totally go nautical with it come springtime, but I love how you went with black leather here–such an unexpected choice.
I love my Jeffrey Campbell Potion Boots. I want to wear them with everything. They’re so light and comfy. 🙂
