A New Years A Coming!

photo

Yesterday was the most beautiful day here yet, so we enjoyed some family time on my dads boat, at the beach, and with some delicious mexican food. Sorry I did not get to posting and right now its 7:10am and we are about to leave for the airport. We have a long day a head of us as we head back to the northeast!

Since we are starting a new year tomorrow I have been doing a lot of thinking about my goals and things for 2010. It is going to be a very exciting and great year!! I will be doing a recap post of 2009 and letting you know my goals for 2010 tomorrow, but for today I would like us all to get to know each other a little bit better!! I love you guys- you make everyday on this blog worth it! So I thought why not get to know you a little bit better and you can get to know me a little better!!

What I would like us todo is…
1. Leave a comment letting me know who you are what your blog is or even something you’d like me to know about you!

Or
2. Ask me something you would like to know about me! It can be anything, about the blog, about my life, being from Canada, living in Hawaii, being married, about kev, being an art teacher, etc… You name it I’ll answer!!!

Or
3. BOTH!!!

I’d love to hear from you!!
Happy New Year Everyone!!

  1. Hi Jen, and happy New Year! I blog at christinehennessey.blogspot.com, and I found your blog originally because of your marathon training – I’m running my first one in February. I kept reading because I love your art and sense of style. This blog is a very cozy place!

My question for you is, how do you define your personal style? One of my (many) goals for the New Year is to do just that, and I’d love to hear your take on it.

    xo!

  2. Well first things first… Happy New Year!

One thing you need to know about me….we share the same name…Jen, but I usually go by Jennifer.

I love your blog and your fashion sense…keep it going!! Check my blog out sometime. Have a blessed new year!

  3. so i just found your blog today and had to comment, i am a jen and i love a kev and we live in the northeast and i LOVE making books…is this a window into a parallel universe? Happy New Year to you and your kev!

  4. Good Morning and Happy New Year!
My name is Danielle, I blog over at http://daniellesorrells.blogspot.com/

I dont remember how I found your blog… most likely a link from a link from a link (which is usually how I find my most favorite blogs). I must say, I sooo enjoy the diversity of your blog. You write about all the things I love… fashion, art, food etc…

I originally began college as an art education major. I spent one year in that major and decided to persue something different. Not because I didnt love art or teaching, but because I didnt feel it fit me. Now I am 27, and still working on finishing up college. I am currently working on my accounting degree and eventually will test for my CPA license. Thats a far cry from teaching art. I guess my question for you is… What is your favorite thing about teaching art? And what grades do you teach? As I look back I really wish I would have stuck with Art Education. I guess its all about timing, and at that point in my life, teaching just wasnt in my stars. Maybe one day, after I have kids, I will go back and get my degree to teach art, who knows.

  5. Happy new year!

Let’s see, I know you have visited my blog before, as you are always kind to leave comments!

I’m not a Jen, and I don’t have a Kev in my life, but I too live in the Northeast (Boston to be exact) and I have to say your style files have inspired me to try and be more stylish in my everyday. I’m an artist like you, although I don’t do too much art at the moment, and while for so long I would wear blah clothes to work, I’ve been making myself push the envelope a bit (as much as you can in a college development office setting, that is!). But anyway I love your blog, and can’t wait to see what you have in store for 2010!

  6. Hi there and Happy New Year! My name is Tabitha and my blog is fashiontherapist.blogspot.com. I love the diversity of your blog and since I’m new I have a whole new year of looking forward to your posts. I’m Canadian and ironically my husband grew up in Hawaii…what island do you live on?

  7. Hello and Happy New Year! I just started reading your blog, as a fellow artist, and former art teacher, turned museum curator, now museum educator. I love the way your blog weaves together the different parts of your life, and combines art and style, etc.

My blog is: http://prettypreciouspumpkin.tumblr.com/ It is still really a work in progress. Last year I had started a blog specific to a particular art project, and when it was done, didn’t know where to go. So this is a new start.

Right now, I am working on developing activities, lesson plans, and programs for my museum, for families, schools, and adults to go with an upcoming exhibition on all things printed. Do you have any favorite lesson plans or activities related to printmaking, that don’t require a printing press?

  8. Hi jen and Kev
Happy New Year to You both
Iam not orgainised to keep a blog- which is why i love your blog- i love to read it every day! your amazing photos is what first drew me to follow. i love lovely photos
keep up the amazing work you do on this blog- i look forward to 2010 with you!!!!! from anna in nottingham the UK

  9. Hi Jen – So my friend and colleague, Amanda, shared your blog with me…. She and I are both high school art & photography teachers in Northern Virginia and really into fashion, so your blog is the perfect thing to look forward to when we get home from work each day!
One of my goals for the new year is to actually write in my blog – we’ll see how that goes!
I know there are already a lot of groups and such that do this, but I think it would be very interesting (and informative) to find a group of younger, tech-savvy art educators who want to share lesson plans over the Internet or a blog, etc. – seems like Ashley is interested in the same kind of thing? Wouldn’t that be fun?

  10. Well I’m Erin and I blog at FierceBeagle.com and I once drew a giraffe for you πŸ™‚ More than any other vocationÒ€”and I’ve known since I was very smallÒ€”I want to write, and in 2010 I’ll be taking major steps to pursue that vocation.

What I want to know about you is, when did you really develop your personal sense of style? Have you always been creative with your clothing, or is that something that developed later?

  11. Hi Jen, happy new year to you and Kev. I blog at http://www.rosemarymaccabe.com and found your blog through a friend of mine who developed an obsession (for a while) with couple-blogs, which I was initially sceptical of, but then realised that yours is about much more than that. I suppose I’d like to know what keeps you motivated to blog and be creative? I often find myself wanting to get a lot done and just being way more tempted to watch the TV… you seem to have a lot of energy that I am totally envious of!

  12. Hi Jen! My name is Jessica, I’m from Winnipeg, my blog is http://jessica-penner.blogspot.com/ and I found your blog when designsponge posted your lovely bedroom makeover! I also bought the beautiful yellow headband in your last batch on etsy.

My question for you is, is there any outfit you’ve posted (or just in general) that you can look back at and think man, that one was a flop, what was I thinking?

  13. Hiya Jen! Kate Schmate here! (http://kateschmate.com) I think we’ve already made a connection, so I just wanted to say thanks for keeping up your blog! I love reading it and love seeing what awesome combinations you put together in your style files. πŸ™‚ I would love to see more of your artwork, as well as some of your lessons or examples you use in art class. My mom is an art teacher, and I always enjoyed seeing the examples she drew while teaching high school art. Safe travels today, and happy new year’s to you and Kev!

  14. Hi Jen! Happy New Year! I have been reading your blog for a long time, just don’t comment much but I love the Style Files. I’ve slacked on my own blog the past month but I plan to ramp it up again in the new year. Keep those Style Files coming…they are so cute πŸ™‚

  15. Hi! I met you at the Boston Blogger Mixer which was a whole lot of fun (cant wait for another one!)
I did not talk you that much, but we will next time! I thought you and your husband were adorable! and I love the fact you guys work together, its inspiring!
as for me, Im a student at Bay State College and I major in Fashion Merchandising!

Love reading your blog! and its amazing to see such a stylish teacher!!
    my question for you..
What is your favorite person or character that you look up to for style tips and fashion?

  16. I just love your blog! I think I originally found it through What I Wore or weardrobe or something. Anywho, I love what you do here! Your pictures are always amazing! πŸ™‚ I have a blog too (although nowhere near yours…. lol) it’s fabulousiseverywhere.blogspot.com. Well, have a happy New Year! And safe travels back!!

  17. Hey Jen! I LOVE your blog. You and Kev seem like such positive creative people.
I’m an art school grad and now I run a small little jewelry business (12 linden) in Baltimore, MD. I can’t wait to see more of your style files in 2010. Cheers and Happy New Year.

  18. Hey!

I’ve been following your blog for a little while now. I find it interesting to see what another teacher is wearing to school – although I’m amazed at all of your skirts! You school must be better heated than mine, because mine is always so cold! We also live in the same area, so I find that neat to see you comment on similar events. Anyways, nice to meet you!

  19. Hey Jen! It’s been a pleasure following your blog for the past couple months. I’m glad I found it this past year!

    1. My etsy shop is Taylor House (taylorhouse.etsy.com) where I sell warm handmade knits, as well as anything vintage. My blog Lah Mode (lahmode.wordpress.com) is where I post about things that I find beautiful and inspirational, as well as track the ups and downs of my every day life and the juggle with learning photography.

    2. I guess my question for you would be, how do you budget for all the clothes that you wear? Do you have a monthly spending limit that you adhere to?

  20. Happy New Year! My name is Kayla and I blog at http://www.sequinissues.blogspot.com. I came across your blog a few months ago and have since become hooked. Your posts always have such a fun touch. You recently moved to my neck of the woods as I’m in Albany, so we are now blogging neighbors! Most of the questions I was going to ask have been stated in the various comments above. I do wonder though, do any of your colleagues know about your blog? Especially being a teacher do you have the ability to share your hobby with your work or do you have to keep them as two seperate lives?

  21. Hey there – my name is Jennie and my blog is http://daftlysmitten.blogspot.com. Although my blog has little to do with fashion, I have enjoyed your sense of style and mix of topics. It’s also interesting to get a peek at the life of an art teacher since I almost went down that path… although now I coordinate volunteers for a non-profit on the east coast. I’m curious – with all the fashion bargains you seem to find – how often to you go shopping?

  22. Hi Jen….I’m Kim and my blog is http://www.girlrobot.net. I just started subscribing to your blog in the past month and I LOVE IT. such great inspiration for me!! πŸ™‚

  23. Another hello from Albany!

I first saw your blog mentioned by the ladies of academichic, and you’ve given me more inspiration to keep my own (college) teaching and researching wardrobe a little less boring. I just moved back upstate earlier in December and I’m dying to know/see more about your new apartment at the Mills – such an awesome building!

  24. Happy New Year Jen!! I blog over at http://domesticatedbliss.wordpress.com/ although I have been on break for the holidays! My hubby and I are competitive cyclists and travel all over the United States…um, yet to visit Canada though :(. I blog about things that interest me, and my crazy life with my crazy 100 lb chocolate lab. I know you have popped over before and left me comments, which is so nice since your like a celeb blogger. I have been reading your blog since January, which was when I became a blog lover due to a broken foot and an inability to train. I know it sounds weird, but your kinda like a cool older sister who wears the coolest clothes, goes on the funnest trips and is a jack of all trades. I have loved seeing your “Last Nights Dinners”, which I have made many, and you even did an “I’d Wear That” on me in October when I got Pearls for my anniversary. I love your blog, and I really hope the best for you and Kev! I travel every year through Troy New York on my way to Vermont…one day I might just have to say hey.
What I would like to know, is how you have time for all the things you do…artwork, crochetting, making headbands/broches, decorating, trainning for a marathon, bloggin, going to church hanging with friends and family….how do you manage all of it???? Also where do you find your inspiration for your art, crafts and dressing? Thanks for all that you do and all that you are!

  25. Jen, you are my favorite daily read! I look forward to the outfits you concoct and steal them for inspiration from time to time. I have wanted to start a blog for a while but haven’t got around to it – so here is to 2010!

How did you become an art teacher? Did you get your credential? What was the process?

    xoxo

    p.s: your recipes are de-lish!!

  26. Hi, Jen!
I was so excited to see your comment on my blog the other day! I read yours every single day and I love that you have introduced me to so many other amazing blogs/bloggers! Have a safe trip home and I look forward to reading all of your resolutions!

    Taylor

  27. Charlotte Walsh •

Hi Jen, looking forward to reading more on your blog in 2010, I love it! Your Style Files are lovely and I always see nice things on it – I showed my boyfriend the sweet Figs & Ginger lovebird necklace you had on once, and he bought me one for Christmas, I love it!

I have a blog but it is horrifically out of date, so you can guess what my new year’s resolution is…

Anyway, my question is about being married. First, I wondered what your wedding was like, and how you chose what to do? I’m not engaged (although I’ve been dropping hints..!) but always think it must be super hard to plan a wedding, and we’d have to do it on a tight budget, so I love getting ideas. Secondly, what do you think the best things about being married are?

    Have a lovely new year!

  28. Hello πŸ™‚ My name is Jen as well and I’ve been a follower of your blog for the past few weeks or so. I’m a college student in New Jersey and I just started blogging on my own in December (I used to share a blog with my best friend in Texas). I absolutely love it. Hmm, it snowed in my area today. I absolutely love the snow…except it ruined my New Year’s Eve Plan so I might have a lonely one this year.
Have a wonderful NYE and an even more wonderful 2010! πŸ™‚ And a question. Did you always know you wanted to teach?

  29. How fun! My blog, Undergradfab, started as just a daily wear blog, but has turned into more of a chronicle of my experience as an undergrad (with a heavvvvy emphasis on daily wear ;)). But I’ll be moving to London in January for four months, so it’s also going to serve as a journal of my time there!
Aaand my question for you is about incorporating your style into your work. I’m going to be interning at a school while I’m in London, and am curious to see how others already in the ‘professional world’ make their style work with their jobs.
    Happy New Year! πŸ™‚

  30. Hi Jen! (I’m another Jen btw) and I’m about to blog at closet365.wordpress.com. A whole year of outfit posts ahead of me.

I am pretty new to your blog, so you’ve probably covered anything I could ask. I love the outfit pics and hearing about your teaching since, I’d like to go back to school for my teacher’s certificate someday. Keep up the good work and Happy New Year!

  31. Hey Jen, my name is Kim and I’m following your blog from Antwerp, Belgium. I don’t have a blog myself because I’m pretty paranoid about keeping my work life and private life (=that would be the blog) separate… but lately I’ve been considering starting one… blogs such as yours are such an inspiration and make me feel like it would be so much fun to start one too. Am not much of a writer though.
    So I’ve got 2 questions:
    1) How/where did you meet Kev and how did you two fall in love? (I’m a sucker for romance)
    2) Do your coworkers know about the blog, if so how do you handle this?
Happy New Year and all the best for you two and the kittens x

  32. Happy New Year Jen (& Kev)! I blog at http://adventuresinloveandhappiness.blogspot.com/ but you know that cause you commented on my recipe yesterday (and you should totally try it, they’re yummy). I’m not really sure how I cam upon your blog, I’m sure I clicked a link that led to a link that led to a link that led to you.
But I was wondering, do you have pictures from your wedding? I’m planning ours now and think your style is pretty awesome. I was also wondering when you were going to give us a tour of your beautiful new home?

  33. Hi Jen! I have commented a couple of times before, but I follow your blog religiously. I grew up in Canada, got my degree in Art Ed. too, but I work for a non-profit for the blind, and love anything fashion/design related. I blog at http://www.fromtaumi.blogspot.com.

p.s. I am dying to see pics of your new place!

  34. oh, and I am also a vegetarian who eats mostly vegan.

  35. Hi Jen!
I stumbled upon your blog when your bedroom was featured on design sponge and have become a daily reader ever since. I’m a interior designer, who until now hasn’t kept track of most of my projects and adventures. I’ve decided to ring in the new year by starting a blog of my own.
My first question for you is, do you have any recommendations for a blog host? My second question is, when are we gonna get to see picks of your new digs? The suspense is killing me!
Thanks for being a daily inspiration.
Happy New Year to you and Kev!

  36. Hi Jen, this is S. and I blog at http://www.academichic.com . I’ve been following your blog for a while and think it’s wonderful. I love your sense of style, the recipes you post, and I’m also a fellow runner. I ran my first marathon with my co-blogger A. this year in April. I have two halfs in Europe on my radar for spring 2010. Since so many people already posed style related questions, I’ll ask you a running related one: Are you planning any future races and did running affect your style/approach to your style at all?

Happy New Year to you and Kev! S.

  37. Hi Jen!

First, I’ve gotta say that I love your beautiful blog! I’m subscribed to about 40 (eek, a lot, I know) blogs on Google Reader, and yours is definitely one of my favorites. You are so cute and charming, and I love your sense of style. Plus, you and Kev seem like a wonderful couple, and the two of you remind me of me and my husband, Kenny (but I call him Ke). Oh–and I like you, I’m vegetarian, and I love your recipe posts! Reading your blog is always fun and such an inspiration. Seriously, I’m still in love with those pictures you posted of your kitchen a while ago.

I don’t have a blog (yet), but I sometimes think about starting one. I guess what I’d like to tell you about myself is that I’m a linguistics senior at the University of Texas, but also pre-veterinary. I’ve got three cats, and I love chemistry, and running, and style, of course! I think that when I’m a veterinarian, I would like to start a style blog, because it will be a challenge to dress both practically and stylishly, but one I’m looking forward to.

I do have a few questions for you. First, what did Kev think of your decision to start a blog, and how does he feel about being your photographer? Also, are your students aware of your blog? What about the faculty/administrators at the school where you work? My hubby is going to be a teacher soon, and he also wants to blog, but he wonders how to handle people at work knowing about the blog.

I sincerely hope you and Kev and your two kitties have a most wonderful new year! πŸ™‚

  38. Aww, what a beautiful photo that is. I’ve commented before, so you might recognize my name, but I am also a blogger. My blog is chateauwhitman.blogspot.com (in case any of your other readers would like to check it out). We’re actually having a home decor giveaway going on right now (shameless plug, hehe).

Regarding the things I like most about your blog, I really enjoy the teacher style files and the food photography. It’s also really interesting to see your art when you post it. Like Kim (who commented above), I think it would be cool to hear how you and Kev met. Maybe you could convince him to do a guest post with some photography basics?

All in all, I think you have a beautiful blog and I really enjoy reading it. Keep up the good work, and have a happy 2010!

  39. Happy New Year!

I’m Katie, and my blog is polkadotsoup.blogspot.com. I also run an Etsy shop by the same name (polkadotsoup). I adore your blog, although I’m typically a fairly silent blog reader πŸ™‚ I’m also Canadian… wahoo!

I love the range of topics on your blog – your husband has some mad photography skills, too πŸ™‚ I’d love to see more of your art on here – also if we can see some shots of your new place.

Hope your holidays are fabulous! Happy Weekend πŸ™‚

  40. Man, there are a lot of Jen’s out there! I’m Rhonda and I read your blog often but I’m a quick blog reader (being a momma of three) so I rarely comment simply due to lack of time. I found your blog from a link on What I Wore and I’m so glad I did!

My favourite post of yours was of the artwork you recently did for your church. The art is BEAUTIFUL! I love it so much. And I was thrilled to read that you attend an Acts 29 church (a network my fam is very familiar with!). I was never sure what exactly drew me to your blog but I knew I loved it. Your content. Honestly. The bit of personality that comes through. You make it well worth reading. But the part I think I love best that shines so evidently is how much you love your husband. It’s not something you read on blogs often and it’s a wonderful testament to your life, marriage and faith!

My question for you is this – In light of the rest of your life how do you keep style and fashion and your blog in perspective? Do you ever feel like it becomes too much of a priority? Or if not, how do you NOT let it become a priority above where it should be?

    I have a personal blog at rhondafast.wordpress.com and a business/photography blog at http://www.rhondafast.com/thisweek/

    Have a fabulous New Years!

I wish you and Kev a great New Year!

  41. evidence of why I shouldn’t comment. I get interrupted and rushed and then repeat myself….

  42. Happy New Year! I found this blog through What I Wore and love your style. I love the rotation of style, home decorating, and cooking and I always love meeting other young, married couples- even if it is through the internet!

My blog is cityofbigshoulders.wordpress.com and it’s a work in progress. I feel really unfocused with my blog since I try to incorporate cooking, style, and posts about being married and living in Chicago. My question to you is, how do you keep your blog focused while incorporating different topics?

  43. my name is lexie and i am a junior in college! i’m an english and education double major – i want to teach middle school language arts. i’m originally from murfreesboro, tennessee!

because i’m a part time barista, i would love to know how you take your coffee!

ps. i am adding you to my blog roll right now!

  44. Something to know about me: My little brother is deaf but has two cochlear implants so that’s why I decided to go into speech pathology! Finishing my general ed’s this semester and starting the program in fall! Also.. I’m kind of obsessed with celebrity gossip. I try not to gossip so celebrity gossip is my outlet.

My question to you: If you could live anywhere in the world.. where would you live?

  45. Heya Jen,

I came by through blog hopping and got hooked to your fashion style – but then got further hooked when i discovered you were an artist as well as well as an amazing interior designer.

You inspire me in so mnay ways as I try to find my own sense of style and creativity in my world and love reading about your fashion, love for Kev, art and everything else that makes up JenLovesKev.

Hope that 2010 brings you both all the happiness and joy in the world – and if you can’t be good….be good at it πŸ˜›

  46. Scarlett •

    Hi Jen,
    Happy New Year!
I love your blog and out of all the ones I have tagged yours is the only one I read every morning. I am in awe of how you get so much done, your life seems so full..It inspires me to get busier.. πŸ˜‰
My question (s) to you is…
    1. Does Kev care about how many clothes you buy? My friends and I are continually hiding purchases from our husbands and they never understand why we need a new outfit.. With Kev taking your photos I guess he has to know what you purchase and how much it is.. Does he ever get annoyed..?
    2. Where do you keep all of your clothes?
    3. Any babies on the horizon?
Look forward to your blog this year!! Love it.. S x

  47. Happy New Year Jen!
    My blog is over Here

What is your favorite thing about teaching? What is your favorite project you teach? And how long did you have to go to school to become a teacher? =]

  48. I can’t even believe it’s 2010 already. My blog is concerningpancakes.blogspot.com (and I appreciate the times you stopped by and commented!) and it’s really just a place that i jibber jabber about whatever comes to mind.

I’m curious to know when/how/what made you fell in love with Kev. You seem so wonderfully in love (which is SO great!) and I would love to know it started for you guys.

I hope you had a safe trip back from Florida!

  49. Hi Jen!
Happy new year to you and your family!! I just wanted to let you know that I adore your blog, and your style. You inspire me so much, as I am in school right now on my way to becomming a high school art teacher, amd I love how you can still be an artist and go to work looking so adorable all the time! :)I suppose my questions would be; is it hard to keep clothing clean at work, what with art supplies and such? and, What is your biggest challenge as a married couple? (being that I am engaged myself, it would be of interest to know)
Thanks, nand good luck in 2010!!

  50. Hi Jen! We’ve conversed before when you wanted suggestions for music. I write The Daily Fashionista http://thedailyfashionista.blogspot.com/ and have been doing so, since August. I actually found your blog through Jessica from What I Wore probably about 6 months ago. I think the first post I read of your was from Kev’s gallery show and I had to show my husband all the pictures and artwork he did. My husband is a photographer for hobby.

Anyways, I guess my question for you is, what age students do you teach and what kind of art class do you teach?

  51. I love that there are so many Jens/Jennys/Jennifers following – and I’m one of them! I’m Jen (obviously), I blog at http://littlebirdfashion.blogspot.com and have been a follower and fan of yours since I started blogging in October this year.

I’d love to know what kind of camera you use – your photos always look so beautifully clear and the composition is always great. I know Kev takes the images, so it’d be great to get a few tips from him! πŸ™‚

Happy New Year – hope 2010 is a good one for you!

  52. Hi Jen

My names Issy and I blog here http://cupcakesandcornwall.blogspot.com/. I live in a little village in Cornwall, England.

I’ve never left you a message as only discovered you about a month ago. I’ve put on a couple of stone this year and have become a bit uninspired by the way I look. You’ve reminded me about my love of clothes and inspired me to make some changes. Happy New Year xxxx

  53. Happy New Year, Jen! I’m finishing my PhD in early modern history and looking for an academic job. I blog at Fashionable Academics: http://fashionableacademics.blogspot.com/. Where in Canada are you from? I’m marrying a Canadian in three weeks!

  54. Hello Jen!

I’m Hannah and I just started to blog over at http://www.always-hannah.blogspot.com. I’m using it as a sort of journal/motivator while I’m in college. I’m starting my second semester of college in Texas (at a new school) soon and I wanted to document all of my adventures. And to stay inspired so I don’t fall into running shorts/sweat pants and a Texas Tech t-shirt as my everyday outfits like most students there.

I love how you talk about Kev. Don’t you just hate women who complain all day long about how dumb their spouse is? Or the media who loves to portray men as idiots? Grr.
Anyways…lol. I would love to know how Kev proposed? Or maybe you proposed? πŸ™‚

    Happy New Year!

  55. My blog is timeenoughfordrums.blogspot.com. I’m curious to know how old you were when you got married! Annie.

  56. Hello! Happy 2010!! My name is Jenn and I fly planes for the military part-time. I’m also an aspiring business owner, photographer, artist, interior decorator. I found your blog through another post (i can’t remember where) about your bedroom redo. I love your wardrobe posts and the recipes too. My question is how you became an art teacher? Did you major in art in college and then later decide to become a teacher? or was that your intent from the beginning? I have to say, I majored in history in college and minored in art, and everyone ALWAYS asked, right after college, if I was planning on becoming a teacher. Now I just say, oh… I fly planes… and then I get the confused, i-thought-you-had-to-major-in-engineering-look!! hahaha!

thanks for all the inspiration on your blog and sharing your life with all of us readers!

  57. Happy New Year! πŸ™‚
I’ve been following your blog for some time now and dropped a note once or twice at some point. I don’t remember how I came across your blog, but I’m sure it was linked somewhere in one of the many other great blogs I follow! I’m graduating this May in graphic design and one of the things I have noticed in the past few years is that my interests go beyond graphic design. Don’t get me wrong, I love design! But I love photography, illustration, knitting, crafts, cooking, traveling, etc and most bloggers nowadays are blogging about all their interests and I’m so glad! As much as I love reading design blogs, I feel I connect more with individual blogs where I get to know a person because it feels more genuine and honest. That’s why I love your blog! πŸ™‚ It’s great to see someone blog about art, crafts, food (and your recipes are awesome, thanks for sharing!), and fashion. Thanks for keeping things diverse and interesting. I blog too: http://blog.imisutoo.com! It’s my third or fourth attempt to stay committed to a blog because I have difficulty combining my interests. I’ve grown up a bit, so I’m excited to finally “settle down” with a blog and I’m excited to share my life, interests, and food adventures. This is one of the several inspirational blogs that I always read and that helped me get to this point. Of course, my blog still needs work and I’ll probably transfer it to wordpress soon since it’s still on blogspot. I guess my point is, thanks Jen for inspiring us fellow bloggers!!! πŸ™‚

I have no questions, but I see a lot of good ones so far from other people!
    Take care!

    Karen

  58. Happy new year to you and yours!
I’ve commented on your blog a couple of times but have been following it for a while now! I’m fairly new with the blogging world (and seriously new with trying to become a regular blogger). I post a lot of photos (food, purchases, my dog and cat), am trying to learn new recipes, and enjoy “hearing” myself “talk” (write) about this and that. I really appreciate how orderly you are, your thrifty clothing finds, your delicious looking recipes, and how much in love you and your husband are! on your blog, you praise your husband and seem smitten, on mine, i like to poke fun at him and you’d have to read between the lines (or just have faith) that i love mine heh. Hope you can drop by sometime. I don’t have any questions for you at the moment; just enjoy learning as you blog! oh, and i’m canadian too πŸ™‚

  59. Hi! I’m Sophie. Uhh well, I’m Canadian but live in California now. My husband is in the Marine Corps and currently deployed. I like online window shopping. πŸ˜›

What’s at the top of your fashion wish list right now?

  60. Happy New Year’s! I love your blog. I think I found your blog through Darling Dexter. I love your style and that you shop at the same places I do! I also love your last night”s dinner posts. They always make me hungry at work. I hope you have a good year!

  61. Hi – I’m a teacher also and love how you dress for your job – what age do you teach? I teach high school language arts πŸ™‚ i have a fairly new blog but its mostly to keep my family and friends updated with what we’re doing with our new house πŸ™‚ happy new year!
    Elisa

  62. Hello, my name is Hanna. I have a blog at http://suburbantparty.blogspot.com. I’m a college student studying journalism and I think I found your blog through weardrobe or what I wore or something of that sort. I’d like to know, as an art teacher, what is your favorite art museum? I live museums and I’m always looking for more to add to my list to visit.

  63. I am Tina and am a part time worker at Old Navy and full time mom.

-I am curious if you have more hours in a day than the rest of us?! LOL
-Do you feel like you always have to be doing something or you are waisting your time?
-Do you have a favorite TV show?
    -What about a favorite perfume?
-Did you play sports in school?
-Do you think you are a go getter because you grew up with parents like that? Did they always want you guys to do things or was she laid back and was happy at anything you did?
-Same question about your relationship with Kev; Did you see a lot of love in your own home, that not only because you love him so much but it is that you have great role models?

-Wondering if Kev would answer this: What is one accessory he would say is a must for his camera? AND How do I shoot better pictures indoor of my lovely children without them being orange and grainy (high ISO) or having the flash on and their little faces being so bright and so many shadows?

Sorry for all my questions! :)I love all the other questions also! And I am surprised you only got like one “when are you having kids?”!!
Glad you had a great time in FL! Happy New Year!

  64. Hey there, I’ve been reading your blog for some time and really enjoy it, I check for updates everyday almost!!
I’m interested in knowing what your plans are for the blog, and your career? Do you enjoy teaching art to high schoolers, pro’s/con’s? I’m pursuing an art education degree at the moment so that makes me curious. What do you know now you wish you would of known sooner?
As for your man behind the camera, what kinda camera does he use, any less expensive recommendations, one that can capture movement without going blurry? I’m in search of a new one and its not easy keeping a little one still!
Finally, I love your blog and the design/creativity, keep up the good work and best of wishes for the coming year.

  65. Hello Jen,

My name is Latoya and I just started blogging a month ago at http://toya-quarterlifechronicles.blogspot.com. On my blog, I talk about topics that a quarter lifer can relate to…ranging from fashion, planning a wedding, planning a career, buying a house…etc etc. I basically like getting my thoughts on paper. I’m rediscovering my love for writing…and enjoying every minute.

I found your blog while checking out different blogs that are out there. I’m new to the blog scene…and I now know what I’ve been missing. I really like the diversity of topics on your blog. I also love your pics!

    Happy New Year!

  66. Hi Jen! Happy new year! I love reading your blog and looking at all of your beautiful photos! It’s fun seeing into your creative and love-filled life! I’m excited to see what’s in store for 2010. I have a question about beauty that was inspired by Tina B’s perfume question (which I’d love to know the answer to as well). What skin and hair products do you use? I’m looking for environmentally and animal friendly products and would love to know if you had any recommendations. xoxo

  67. hi jen! i’m mariel and i blog at preppywithatwist.tumblr.com. i’m curious to know what your students think of your outfits, especially the more out-there ones! my mom works at an elementary school and her kids flip if she wears colored tights. happy 2010!

  68. Hi Jen! I’m an aspiring opera singer who lives in Boston. I came across your blog this fall through Weardrobe, and have been loving it ever since. I love your creativity, style, and design sense and what I reallllllly want is for you to come over to our new apartment and help me figure out how to decorate it!!!

  69. oh and I forgot to mention my blog is http://www.primadonnadiva.blogspot.com

  70. Hey Jen,
This is JoAnn from Sidewalk Chalk at http://childhoodchalk.blogspot.com/. My sister and I blog about fashion, our daily wears and a little about our lives as well.
I’ve been reading your blog for awhile and I don’t remember how I stumbled on it but am so glad that I did. You have a fun style that’s very approachable and chic, and your happiness with life seems to emanate from the site. πŸ™‚ It’s been a great source of inspiration.
I have a couple questions for you:
    1) How did you decide to become a teacher?
    2) Do any of your students/fellow teachers read your blog, or do you try to keep work/private life separate?
    3) What part of Hawaii did you live in? I got married last May and my husband and I honeymooned in Honolulu — one of the best places I’ve ever been to!

Hope you have a fantastic vacation! – JoAnn

  71. Jen, you are just so cute I check your blog as often as I can! I think i found it through august lovers one day looking for recipes.. im a starving college kid that needs mentoring in the food department. You were one of the reasons I started a blog! it is pretty pathetic at the moment, my camera is crappy and I am too busy to post that often. http://amandaelser.blogspot.com/
I have two questions for you…. 1whats a good way to revamp a blog and to make it my vision? – im not tech savy and 2 how do you get sooo many great clothes at thrift stores and not feel skeevy wearing the clothes? I try so much and feel like im wearing moth balls even after washing, ha Happy new year!

  72. Hi Jen!

I’d love to know how you knew Kevin was the one and how was you wedding? Do you have ay pics?!

I love love love your blog!

  73. I love your blog and enjoy reading it daily! You are a great style inspiration.

I wish I had your diligence to post so often, my blog is: http://thesingawaybird.blogspot.com/

Mostly photos from my day-to-day life, house, garden, and sewing and silk screening projects.

    Happy New Year!!

  74. hey, I’m Dani and me and my friend Kristen blog at http://footnmouth.blogspot.com
I first checked out your blog when you commented on one of my posts πŸ™‚ i like how you have integrated a lot of different aspects of your life into your blog – work, church, home. it’s great.
i just started blogging this past fall, and it’s a lot more work than i thought it would be πŸ˜› i really like shoes. that seems to have become the focus. i also like food, but i find it harder to blog about.

a question for you: I’m Canadian, and I’ve always wondered what it would be like to permanently move to another country. what is it like being a former Canadian and then moving to the States? Do you find it’s more or less the same, culturally speaking? or do you feel that a different background has given you a different perspective?

  75. Jessica •

    Hi Jen!
I’m Jessica, and I live in British Columbia. I think I found your blog via Darling Dexter. I fell in love with your style the first time I browsed your posts; its so inspirational! I also love your recipes and art work. Heck, I love the whole blog. I’m currently in school to become an elementary teacher and like hearing about your days at school.

  76. My greatest fear is falling from a great height and not knowing how to land (and survive). I dream about it at least once a week. In case I need to hold you hostage for any reason, what is your greatest fear? – WiniW

  77. I’m D’Rae and live in the midwest. I found your blog one day by accident and love it!

  78. hi jen! my blog is outofhabit [dot] tumblr [dot] com, and it’s a mix of running, cupcakes, architecture + design, and my random musings from living in nyc.

since i’m originally from upstate ny, i find it interesting to hear about what you guys do around the albany area, and i always enjoy your style files, especially since part of me wants to go into teaching art [not sure how big of a part though, which is a slight problem ;)]

  79. Hi Jen! I am Lauren and me and a lovely friend of mine have a blog over at magic-happens.tumblr.com. Its a work in progress right now! I found your blog through What I Wore I think and absolutely love it! Especially the design of it since I am starting to learn a bit about web design! Your blog is so cute and has definitely become one of my daily inspirations over the past few weeks!!

  80. Hi Jen. My name is Stephanie Poli and my blog is http://stephanieisgettingmarried.blogspot.com. I originally started it to plan my wedding in Oct. 09. I really enjoyed blogging & the community mindset of other bloggers out there. You blog was one of the first non-wedding blogs I started following, and you played a major part in my deciding to continue blogging after my wedding. I’m a video editor & graphic artist by trade and I love fashion. I’m also enjoy crafting.

My question for you is, How do you just pick up and move new places? I mean, I would be terrified to move away from where I grew up or away from family, but I’ve always wanted to living somewhere new. You seem so fearless about it, and I admire that.

  81. I know I’m a few days late on commenting but….

Hi Jen! My name is Lauren and I have been blogging for over 2 years at http://shenaniganist.wordpress.com. In December I decided that instead of just looking at style blogs I would try to start my own, street cake.

Since I’ve started with my style blog, yours has become one of the blogs I look at every day (when I’m not traveling and avoiding my Google reader that is!) and I have tons of your outfits starred as inspiration πŸ™‚

  82. one more question… Does Kev ever read your blog? If so, does he have an opinion about the way you describe your lives together?

  83. I really enjoyed reading everyone else’s comments here (some great questions!) and I wanted to put in a vote to hear more about your life as an art teacher! I am just about ready to graduate and am a little freaked! I thought it sounded like a great idea from Deirdre to share lesson plans or ideas. And what about our own art? Is there time? Is there energy? Is there motivation? How can we connect art educators through blogs? I’m interested in finding a balance between work and life like you have and hoping it will all come together. I’m also hoping I can wear fun clothes like you do.. it seems so physical in the art classroom and kinda messy! You make it look easy and fun… Lovelovelove your blog… please keep it coming! Thanks!

  84. Hi! I’m Kelly from http://www.proficiscamur.com. I’m 23 and live near Cincinnati (but right across the river in KY)

My question is: when/if you go back to visit Canada, do you feel like you can’t stand temperatures as cold as you used to, now that you live somewhere warmer? (I only found your blog a while ago so as far as I know you haven’t even been in HI that long…so maybe this is a stupid question!)

  85. I am late… oh my! But I wanted to sneak in a question which I am sure one of the 84 before me has asked:

How do you balance sharing your life on the blog and keeping your personal life personal?

The reason I ask is that you seem to be good at it, you don’t over share but you for sure put info out there as if you are talking to a friend. For me that is one of the hardest things becasue I want to blog from the heart on my blog, but I also want to make sure that I am not putting too much of myself out there.

  86. Hi Jen- Love your blog! I’m a bit late posting my question, but I’ve noticed that you’ve gone to Boston a few times since I’ve started reading your blog. Since I went to school there and love the city, I was wondering- what’s your favorite thing to do in Boston?

  87. hi jen! i think i found your blog somehow through weardrobe’s blogger meet-up thing? did you go to that? if not…uh, i don’t know where i found you! πŸ™‚ anyway…i blog about life as a young wife and mom, with some outfits thrown in for good measure. i love fashion and my dream job is to work for a magazine, but i keep my clothes and goals relatively practical because of my mom job. i’m new to blogging. i had never read a blog in my life until a friend got sick & a blog was set up to keep people up to date on her condition. (luckily all is well there) anyway, that’s how i discovered the blogging world and now i’m hooked! i don’t even watch tv anymore because there are always blogs i’d rather be reading! (okay, that’s not entirely true, but it HAS cured my love for reality tv.) anyway, my question for you is: what’s a good (and affordable) way to get a unique blog design? i’d really like to step up my blog this year and i wouldn’t mind spending a liiiiittle bit of money on it, but is that the best way? are there decent templates out there? i don’t know much about the tech-y side of blogging.

  88. oooh! i have another question…
do you have any suggestions for not feeling like a doofus while taking outfit pics?

  89. Ha ha ha πŸ™‚

Jen are you going to read all these 89 comments including mine?
    Okay let’s check πŸ˜‰

  90. Dear Jen,

first Happy New Year to you and your husband. Lots of love, hugs, pleasant trips,….and more…
My name is Ana, I live in Slovenia. Do you know where that is? πŸ™‚
I love cats, music, art, food….everything good…Don’t write my blog yet,…but…I am really thinking to start one of my own….The biggest concern is that english in not my native language and I would make mistakes in spelling words….but on the other hand…hm, maybe I should try?

Questions for you…..I would be glad if you could give me (us) some good tips about photography and how to create a new blog? Oh, and yes, how do you pick places to move, your feelings about that and friends?

Well, that would be it. πŸ˜‰
I look forward to read your new posts, you are sooo inspiring …

    Greetings,
    Ana from Slovenia
