Teacher Style File 12.15.09

Its getting to be those months were taking pictures gets hard. I get tired of doing them inside but its so cold outside. We have it down to a good system though. We find a spot, Kev goes and figures out settings for camera- he gives me a wave, I run out with my coat, get ready, throw my coat off, take a few pictures, throw my coat back on and run inside. haha. I hope I don’t get a lot of colds this winters!! We really enjoy taking the pictures together though!

This week is hopefully less stressful week than last, but I doubt it. Oh well I just keep saying “only 7 more days till we leave for vacation!!!” We leave for FL next Thursday!! So excited!!

Here is what I wore yesterday to school. Pretty easy going. My sister gave me the plaid shirt because she didn’t like how it fit her. My necklace is something my grandma gave me from her jewelry collection. I have had it for a couple years but I never quite know how to wear it. They are really big pearls. I kinda feel like Wilma Flintstone in it. I think it worked pretty well with my outfit yesterday though- what do you think?

  1. Very very cute! I definetly adore your style, so simple and so great all at the same time. Stop by my blog sometime….http://brightboldunexpected.blogspot.com/. Have a great day.

  2. I love the color of the plaid! especially matched with that skirt!

p.s it was very nice meeting you at the mixer! thank you so much to you girls for setting it up! I really appreciate it, it was a lot of fun!

  3. I love this, and I think the pearls look fantastic with it!

  4. I love this look, Jen! I’m really loving leather skirts and plaid lately!

  5. the pearls are rad with the shirt–i love the unexpected combination of an oversized classic piece with something more woodsy in a flattering cut.
    looks terrific!

  6. the pearls add a nice, ladylike contrast to the toughness of the rest of the outfit. so cute!

LOVE the leather skirt…i’m so sad that mine doesn’t fit right now. the hubby bought it for me the first summer we were dating when his family went to italy. i was all set to revive it this winter and sadly, i’ve gained a few pounds the last month or so and it’s WAY. TOO. TIGHT. sigh….

  7. I love it very cool. I was thinking it might be a good idea to post some kind of guide as to how you shop through a thrift store. I don’t know if there is a method to it, but sometimes I go in feeling excited and just become frustrated when I don’t see anything. It seems that your shopping trips are extremely successful.

  8. I love how the pearls look with the plaid… great juxtaposition of ladylike and menswear inspired!

  9. oh its adorable and that skirt is fabulous! (esp. the price). lucky lucky you to be going to florida!!! have a cocktail on the beach for me!

    🙂

  10. i love the necklace!

  11. I really like the shape of your skirt, it’s really different than what I’ve been seeing lately elsewhere- kind of a marriage between the high waisted styles and mini skirts. The whole thing is really cute, the pearls are great! Just ask yourself “WWIAD”? (what would Iris Apfel do? hah!)

  12. I likey! It’s a good contrast, with the plaid and leather. I leave for vaca in three days and am SO EXCITED too! (but a little stressed). I can’t wait to just be there, you know, and hopefully finally be able to relax for a bit

  13. I love that skirt. And $12.99???! You can’t beat it.

  14. I love this outfit, sooooo cute! I understand about the uncomfort of taking winter pics! – Natalya of Wear Necessities

  15. This looks great! I love the juxtaposition of the glam pearls with the more casual plaid. I’m really finding a lot of inspiration in your style, thank you! S.

  16. Wilma Flinstone wishes! How do you get away with a leather skirt in a school? Are you that teacher that all the kids have crushes on?

  17. I’ve been looking for a skirt just like this for weeks. You look great!

  18. I like the pearls a lot. I would personally call them my Lisa Simpson pearls though because she’s a lot cooler. I think I have that same shirt too and just paired it with a suede skirt the other day for the opening night of Oklahoma!

  19. The pearls are gorgeous!
Oh I hate taking photos in winter too! It’s dark when I get up and dark when I get home (pout!)
I was so glad for summer daylight saving!

  20. Hahaha! I laughed out loud when I read the first paragraph because that is exactly what my husband and I do. I love it! I’m glad I’m not alone! Hehe!

  21. the plaid shirt is perfect with the skirt, love how you added a touch of pearls too to soften the whole look 🙂
