Introducing MY NEW BLOG…

so I have some big news to announce to everyone that is a follower of this blog. I am starting a whole new blog site soon!! I will still blog on this one ( I cant give it up now its been 3 crazy year!!) because the new one is for a different purpose. I have been following alot of interior design, inspiration, diy crafter blogs lately and I came to the realization that I could do this as well. I mean I make all the stuff anyways for myself so why not write about it and try to sell stuff while i’m at it. Kev bought me a domain name and is going to build me a custom website -are you ready for this…. drumroll please I am now the proud owner of www.jenloveskev.com yay!!! I am creating a etsy account with the same shop name: jenloveskev. In my shop I will be selling everything I love to make from headbands, to handmade journals, pillows, custom tee-shirts, everything and anything I silk screen, sewn creatures, artwork- whatever i am inspired to make will show up there. I am very excited about all of this because even just thinking about it gets the creative juices flowing. Its going to be great. I really hope I can make a lot of connections and network with all the other amazingly creative people out there. It should be done is the next little while.

Here are a few headbands I have made lately: the only thing though is I make the stuff and then I like it so much I don’t want to sell it…

Hawaii recap…

So for spring vacation I headed back to hawaii for the first time since we moved. I was so excited- I had bought this ticket like months and months ago and it was crazy that it was acutally time to go. I was a little nervous to fly by myself and to go back without kev because that was our first home together and it would be weird there without him. Anyways the long flight was well worth seeing jenni, toby, caden and cody!!! I cant believe how much the boys have grown. It was so so great to see them- I had missed them all so much.

Its funny how when you live there you start to forget (well not forget but) how amazingly beautiful it is there- it truely is one of the craziest landscapes. The mountains are just breath taking. Even small things when I was back I would be like “did I really appreciate this when I was here?” I sure hope so! for example the mountains in the background of the park by our apt… crazy!

Jenni was nice enough to make sure that I got to do everything I wanted to do or see when I was there. We got to go to jamba jucie like 3 times!! ahh the smell when you open those doors! We drove around the island, we went up the pali hwy, we went to my most favoritest beach Makapu’u, we went into waikiki, we went to kailua and lanikai. I even saw Desmond from LOST running on the street when we were in Lanikai. We had amazing picnic lunches, and had a 70 dollars manicure and pedicure. It was quite a vacation. I even got to spend a night with Jamey and Janessa!! I had forgotten how much of an amazon women I feel like next to those two-boy they are small. hehe. I had missed seeing them and it was good to catch up. We even saw whales!! We went on a hike and it was humpback whale season and we saw whales everywhere- Kev and me had never gotten to see that when we lived there.

On my way out there my plane got delayed and they bumped me from american to northwest so I could get there when I was suppose to- at first I was bummed but then on my flight which was 9 hours from st.paul to honolulu. I had my own tv and movies on demand!!! It had tons of movies on it and games that you could use the remote as a controller to play- ummmm it was awesome! What an easy way to make a 9 hour flight plesant. The way home on the other hand- that was a long long trip. I wish i had been back on Northwest. On 1 of my 3 american flights I got to watch beverly Hills chihuahua with no sound no less.ugh! I cried when I saw kev finally after leaving honolulu on sunday afternoon at 4pm and arriving in hartford at 12:30pm on monday afternoon. I dont think I could have waited or taken any longer getting home to him.
I love hawaii! and love jenni!

valentines day…

so valentines day turned out a little different then we had planned but its ok because we got to help out mike and erin and spend some very important time with close friends when they needed us. The evening ended with a late night in noho at the iron horse. We got a small table along the balcony right over the stage to see deertick play. Amazing. (pics to come)

but here is what kev got me for valentines day!! So cute- it hasnt arrived yet because the couple who makes the jewelry makes it after you order it. It should arrive soon.
Visit figsandginger.com to see more of the jewelry

I on the other hand found the best website called blurb.com you can download your blog and turn it into a book. You download this software and then you get to layout everything. It came out amazing!! Its like a real book. I got a hardcover with thicker weight paper and it came out so good. I am already in love with it- i think i might grab it if there was a fire. it just means so much. I was only able to make volume one. its from our first landing in hawaii thru january. Volume 2 is in the works. It feels so good to have a hard copy of such an important time in our life.
I cant wait to show you guys.

friends…

rae from kev’s work sent him some pictures to send to me because she knew I would like them and boy was she right! How cute!!

my style…

so i took an interior design style quiz and these were my results. I am going to say they pinpointed it exactly althought i didnt know that is what it would called…
My top one said I was cottage chic and then following by a smaller amount a was a rustic revival. Here are the definitions…

Cottage Chic
> Who says that cottages can’t be modern and chic? Who says that they
> have to be floral and cheesy? Not you!
>
> You love the carefree spirit that the cottage interior inspires, but
> you are also serious about your appreciation for modern art and hip
> treasures. You love old and new alike, and love to highlight them
> all to expose the uniqueness of each. What better way to show off
> these treasures than with a light background?

> Rustic Revival
> ”You…love a mix of modern and country. The
> clean lines of the modern softened by rustic/vintage elements is the
> perfect mix in your mind.”

Chanel Couture Spring 2009

Now I am not one of those girls that pines over having something with the “CC” of the chanel logo on it but I will say that the pictures from the Chanel Couture 2009 Spring Runway Show are quite amazing. The thing is it wasnt even really the clothes ( I did like a few dresses but…) the paper flowers that lined the runway- the heads of modelsand walls of the show were unbelievable!!! That is something I wish I could have seen in person. What a beautiful setting!!! Can you image the hours it took to create all that??

NYC Weekend…

So me and laura got a much needed girls weekend together in the city the other weekend- and it was awesome!!! I had such a great time. It was so so fun!! I felt like i was in my own sex and the city movie. Hanging out with my friend shopping, getting dressed up and going out on the town, hailin’ cabs, going out for awesome breakfasts after getting in at 4am. I guess some people live this life all the time but for me its not something I think I would enjoy every day or weekend but when its once in awhile it makes it that much more special and such a blast. I love you Laura!!
