I was really excited when Art.com approached me to do a review of their new service Photos to Art. If there is one thing I love- it’s Photos. I always want things documented and then I love getting the pictures framed and placing them around our apartment. It makes it feel like home. Art.com was kind enough to give me a gift certificate to use to try out the service.
I thought the site was very easy to use. You can upload any pictures you would like and then see how they would look in each of the print choices they have. I am not a huge fan of photos printed on canvas but that is just me. I absolutely LOVE the acrylic option but it is a little pricey. I went with the wood mounted choice. It “permanently bonds images to a 1/4 inch thick piece of stabilized hardboard. The surface is treated to protect against moisture, dust, dirt, fingerprints, and protects against UV comparable to standard glass.” I ordered 2 wood mounted prints. One 16″x24 and one 11″x14″. They arrived very quickly and were protectively shipped. I was so excited to open them up. I LOVE them!!! They came out great. I will definitely be using art.com again to get photos turned into wall art. I think it will be a great present idea for future birthdays and mothers (grandmothers) day.
Anyways. Art.com would like to offer a $50 gift code to one lucky reader to use to create their own photos to art print. All you need to do is head over to Art.com, check things out and leave a comment letting us know what print choice is your favorite (wood mounting, canvas, acrylic, etc.). Any ideas of what you want printed? We’d love to hear in your comment as well!
The giveaway will run from now until next Monday. Winner will be randomly chosen and emailed Monday evening.
Good Luck!

After visiting the site, I think I would go with the wood mounting… I like it because it looks simple and classic. I have so many of my own photographs framed…and let’s be serious, it is an annoyingly time consuming process to do it myself and do it correctly. But custom framing is so expensive!
I would pick the classic frame for more of my own photos. You can see them here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/julia_d/
Thanks for the opportunity!!

Chelsey
01.25.11
Definitely the wood mounted, I am not a fan of photos on canvas either! I would probably pick a picture of my family, my cat or a landscape! all would be gorgeous.
I love this giveaway idea, and this shop! I work at a photography studio and it is SO expensive to get photos on canvas or even just on gator board. This shop is a much more affordable option!
Anna
01.25.11
I would love love love a large, beautiful canvas to show off a favorite wedding picture. My first anniversary comes up in May, but my husband deploys this month, so I won’t get to share it with him. This would be a nice anniversary present to myself.

Truth be told, we don’t have a single picture of us up. We’ve been together 10 years, married for 4, but have never gotten past hanging just art and mirrors.
One day.

01.26.11
i’m kind of all about the canvas.
and since i’m single right now (the only ‘male’ companion i have being my laptop, chuck, who is obediently attached to my hip) and spend most of my days blogging, i’d love to blow up a black and white picture of myself that i have taken while practicing being my own site’s sole photographer. selfish? maybe a little, but hey, i AM single, right?
Kelsey
01.26.11
I really like the canvas! My housemates and I foster cats for my local animal rescue, and I’d love to wall-mount a photo of my very first foster cat. The nice canvas version would replace the cheaply framed photo I have hanging there.

01.26.11
I’m surprised that the wood mounting turned out so crisp. The look beautiful! I’ve always wanted a few pretty large canvas prints of my kids for our living room or possible up our staircase… or my studio… Okay, I can’t decide!! But I’d go with canvas.
Catherine
01.26.11
I like the wood option that you chose. I have a few posters mounted that way, and it’s a great way to mix things up, so not everything in the house is framed too similarly. It really highlights the art/photos themselves. I would love to get a few photos the beach near my parents house in New Jersey and Ithaca (where I went to college) – I moved to Canada a couple years ago, and while I love it here, some reminders of home are always good.
Lauren
01.26.11

I’m sooo interested in the wood mounting option. It’s so unique I have this photo from my wedding of me and my husband during our first dance and its dark so it looks like an outline of us and I think this would make it look amazing on the wood mounting
