Teacher Style File 01.05.10

So it always makes me nervous going back to school after a long vacation. So I wanted to wear something that I felt comfortable in and also warm. My classroom has been getting increasingly cold everyday and I just freeze all day long. I got this poncho thing at forever 21 for like $8 when they were on sale one day. I never thought I would want to wear a poncho, but when I think of it-its really a blanket that is acceptable to wear in public, so honestly it sounds amazing to me!!

I have also gotten sick (thanks kev) and I am not dealing very well. hehe. During the day its tolerable but at night I can not sleep because I am so congested and my throat is so sore. Blah! Even more reason to want to wear a blanket right? Hope you guys are having a better start to the week than me! I however have a date nigth planned with Kev tonight. We are going to dress up a little and go out for dinner!! I can not wait!!

yes, you made the poncho acceptable!!! very few people can make it look good, and you always do!
i wish you lived in nyc, i feel like we would be great friends!!!

  5. I love that Poncho! It does look comfortable…maybe i’ll just start wearing blankets around and say they are ponchos! Just kidding, sort of. Anyways you look great and I hope you feel better soon!

  6. FABULOUS look, jen! i need a poncho for my office, too. it’s soooooo cold in here!

  7. I LOVE this so much. I must seek out something similar.

I also wanted to tell you that one of your resolutions really hit home with me the other day. I fall into the blogger comparison trap so easily. And regardless of what the numbers are, I truly LOVE blogging. Sometimes, I just lose sight of it I guess. So, here’s to being fabulous no matter what!

    Thanks for the inspiration!

  8. I have the same cold as you, it’s so annoying! I have been popping advil cold and sinus and it helps to relieve the symptoms quite a bit. Nothing like bed rest, but the next best thing.
I love your pon….blankie, cozy comfy.
My version of that is my fair isle sweater, or something from my husband’s closet.

  9. A cozy poncho is the PERFECT choice when you’re feeling under the weather! It looks fab with those layered necklaces.

  12. I love the poncho! It seems like the perfect thing to wear when you’re feeling not so great. I’ve been fighting off congestion too. Right now I’m finding that facial steams are helping a lot. And have you ever tried a Neti Pot? They can work wonders.

  13. Happy Day back at school! I start next Monday! Yay + Boo! I wish I could pull off that adorable look! Hope you feel better soon!

  14. I like the poncho you chose. I couldn’t figure out which one would look best so I just didn’t get one at all. But at $8 it would have been nice to have any of them.

  15. We have a good 5 inches of snow here, so I’m in full support of the blankets as outwear initiative! 🙂

  16. Your poncho is definitely cute! I’ve loved ponchos since I was a little kid. My mom used to send me to church every week with my cute dress and one of my two cream ponchos. So, of course, I now I have tons of ponchos. Love ’em! Very cozy!

  17. You look so super comfy cozy but yet totally stylish – loving it! I hope you feel better soon.

  18. This post reminded me that I have a poncho in my closet that I haven’t worn yet! It’s funny how things get lost in there.

I love how the layered necklaces subtly bring out the colors in the poncho. Feel better & enjoy your date night!

  19. i like the detailing of the blouse with the poncho pattern–unexpected and very pretty.
    feel better soon!

  20. Great outfit i love it!

  21. I really like this outfit! I have the same problem – I think wearing a poncho would be super tough, but this is giving me some pretty great inspiration!

    Hope you’re feeling better soon!

  22. Cute boots! You can definitely pull off the poncho look. Also I have the same gray Ikea vase! Look! http://chateauwhitman.blogspot.com/2010/01/craigslist-score-jute-rugs.html

  23. Seeing your poncho makes me regret not getting this one I wanted while I was in Mexico a month ago. It’s so adorable and this is the perfect outfit going back to school. I have poncho envy….

  24. i thought about getting a poncho last time i was at forever21! but the only ones left were kind of getting fuzz clumps all over them… so i bought a shirt instead.. haha

  25. my roommate is getting over a horrible stomach virus and my boyfriend has pinkeye … i think i’m doomed to getting sick sometime soon! 🙁

you look quite comfy in that poncho .. though when i think poncho i think more like a square fabric with a hole cut in for the head … they were popular a few years ago. this one looks more shawl-like!

  26. Love the poncho!

  27. I’m so sorry to hear that you’re under the weather! You look cute and cozy, though!

  28. This look is so adorable and comfy.. ! I’m in love with it! It’s like a chic Snuggie. Need. One. Now.

  29. i remember seeing that poncho, it’s lovely and a great price. there’s nothing better than being able to wear a blanket out in public. 🙂
hope you have fun at your date night! and feel better soon!

  30. I gotta tell you, you remind me of my high school ceramics teacher with this outfit (she was my favorite). I hope you feel better, I’ve been sick for a week and it stinks.

  31. I LOVE this on you! I saw the ponchos section at F21 and was seriously considering getting one and now I wish I would have.. you look darling! Plus it looks really warm and comfy! Our office is always freezing and that’d be perfect. Love your style, as always!

  32. i love the poncho! i wanted to get it myself a little while ago (sells for $10 here in toronto) but i wasn’t brave enough. i think i’d get looks in this city…but you’ve inspired me to reconsider!

  33. Sometimes comfy and warm is the most important thing. I would totally wear a blanket to work if it wouldn’t get in my way all day.

    Very cute pictures too!

  34. You make this “blanket” look so chic! I just found your blog and I love it– it’s economical and stylish at the same time!

  35. I love the poncho and I think the layered necklaces add just the right touch of chic-ness to dress your outfit up.
