So I guess I could have saved this post until thursday but we had so much fun making our skirts and they came out so good I needed to share them now!! I had never made a skirt before and laura hadn’t sew’d any clothes before (dont get me wrong she is an already excellent sewer). We have a long childhood of child labor enforced by our mom’s in their craft rooms helping with all their country folk art stuff- haha. Anyways, I picked out a bright blue fabric with big white polka dots and Laura picked a nice denim. The skirts have big pockets on the front and a zipper on the side. They are very cute! Take a look and let us know what you think…

These are great!!! Can I ask what pattern you all used? I am a beginner sewer, and these look like a project I might be able to tackle

LOL – child labor, sad but true. That was fun. Thanks again for a fun filled weekend.

Looks like you can expand your offerings on Etsy with some fabulous skirts! Well done. So, when will you report to Project Runway?

I second the request for the pattern info! So cute and doesn’t look TOO difficult – if I can figure out the zipper.

I’ll get that pattern number and make out to you when I get home. I am at work right now so I can’t remember but the zipper wasn’t to bad- alittle tricky. A zipper foot on your machine makes a big difference thats for sure. Thanks for all the comments everyone! The pattern info is on its way!

Think I found it – Simplicity New Look 6872, right? Did you tweak it at all?
Jen

you beat me to it! Yep it’s Newlook pattern number 6872. I didnt make any tweaks but I did shorten it to the length that fit me and I ended up making my waist band smaller so that I could wear it higher on my waist with a shirt tucked in. Good luck everyone!! and I want to see all your pictures, email some pictures if you make the skirt!

Child labor heh? Just look what you two can and are accomplishing. All those hour spent in the craft room were very expensive private lessons . LOL All great memories for me and thanks for the help. Love you guys!

[...] This is one of my favorite skirts! I love the bright, bold polka dots and color. I feel like minnie mouse when I wear it or maybe more like just any Disney character, which of course I love. But I think I like this skirt so much because I made it, remember? [...]
